Most people are fence sitters - do you agree?

Fence sitters always jump to whichever side that gives them the maximum benefit. This has been my experience. Most people would rather wait and watch and then decide to take the side that gives them the maximum benefit.Very few people would stand firm and support what is right even if there is no support from others or there is no evident benefit from doing so...what are your views friends?

Yes.I agree with you. they just want to avoid conflict. Not that they couldn't make up their mind.

Hi zalilame, I like your avatar...It is not that people are firm and know their mind. Most fence sitters do it because as you say they want to avoid conflict and the other reason being that they are more concerned about themselves and how it would benefit them, accordingly they take sides..

I suppose you are talking of work envvironment Kiran! In family , normally people get biassed in favour of one person and take sides. On the other hand , if they feel that they may stand to lose out on some benefit[they may look for some future help]then they become fence sitters. THey would not like to antagonise any party. Similarly, whe n they are sure that they would not touch on this person for future help , then they won't mind taking sides against the person.

Hi kala, not necessarily work place or work environment. This happens in daily life too... It happens around us all the time. Most people would like to play it safe even when they know that things are not right .They would sit on the fence and jump whichever side offers them the maximum benefit. There are very few people who are firm and stand up to their own beliefs and are fair to the extent of even forgoing their own interests..take care kala

U are correct,,,,,,,,,may I add .as long as u are right I will support u, when I feel u are wrong,I should withdraw the support. This is because all individuals have their own way to judge, yes we all love to b on the winning side, but we should be fair to all.I hope u agree.

What you say is mostly true. I wish politicians were not of this type! Sitting on the fence is the safe bet but there is always the possibility of falling off. Both ways - you can fall flat on your face or get a pain in the butt. It is therefore a quite dangerous stance. Any move either way can have unexpected consequences. Politicians do a constant balancing act until they need support from one side or the other. But most of the time they remain split down the middle, which considering they are in a sitting position is quite painful to watch!

Hi petersum, thanks a lot for your response...I agree sometimes even that can happen when they can fall flat on their face lol However, it is not just the politicians who are fence sitters, most people are when it comes to taking decisions on issues...they wait and see and then jump depending on which side favors them and gives them the best advantage..all the best
