Dear friends and family members you all are very well known rice is a part of eating some people cannot take the lunch or dinner without rice. At least they takes small in quantity but it is necessary for them.
Before marriage I also eat rice both the time in my mothers house my whole family likes rice but after marriage my mother in law tell me rice is not good for health so in our house we are making rice only two times in dinner in a week. So really rice is not good for health share your views you are eating rice daily in lunch or dinner or only in dinner or only in limited days. You likes plain rice or jeera rice or fry rice.

Hi surekharathi ji
Of course, anything you eat depends on your biological constituent. Earlier when I was healthy, I was taking rice at least once a day. Now when I have UC, doctors said I should take more rice so it was at least three times a day. Then Arthritis happened and so I was adviced to cut short on rice.
I hope your MIL is having some ill health and health issues have forced her to say that rice is bad for health. What she means is HER Health.
Here at my place there are two varieties of rice available and I havent found anyone here who can handle both well. So I agree with your MIL with that change of course.
And also, as I mentioned, it is more about your own biological reasons whether rice goes well with you or not. The best part is that it is lighter to digest(great for digestive disorders) and the worst part is that it is somewhat colder in nature (bad for arthitis and other cold related ailments)

Hello Sids! Happy to see you!
I agree with what you've said Sids! My father is diabetic and his doctor adviced him to lessen rice intake because it's not good for him.
Hope to see you very often friend!

hi surekarahti too much rice is not good for one as its a simple carb and goes into sugar almost immediately. If you are in excellent health with a good pancreas you will have no bad problems but too much rice will put on the pounds if you do not exercise a lot.for us diabetics we can eat just tiny portions of rice oh it will shoot our blood glucose level way way up.Brown rice is much better for us and basmanti rice is good for us too but in small portions. cultures like india and the Philippines use rice several times a day. here in the US we use potatoes more often for our starch
course.

I was thinking that they use rice the way we use sliced bread. Too much of any of it is bad if you are diabetic. I knew a nurse who said to never eat a potato and a bread at the same meal. When she goes places like her son's sports awards banquets, she eats half the roll and half the potato. It makes sense to be careful for all of us.

I think it really depends on the type of rice it is. Here we have this pastey white rice that is mostly starch. It's not good for you - but brown rice is. So it really depends on if it is nutritious. jeera rice is a new one to me so I can't tell if it's good or not!

Hi, macdingolinger. I looked up the jeera rice and it sounds heavenly to me, and very healthy. It is basmati rice and has cumin seeds and cinnamon and other spices. All of those are so healthy and help reduce inflammation. The recipe I found calls for ghee, I think that is yak butter if I am not mistaken. I will have to find some cumin seed and try this as it sounds so good.

That sounds very healthy to me too! I'm thinking I would like to try that recipe! I'm going to have to look it up too. I've seen basmati rice and it is a very healthy alternative to the plain old white rice!

i think there's nothing wrong in eating rice if you eat it moderately, maybe just a half or one cup per meal is just right. because here in the philippines thats the main carbohydrate on the table, like eating rice is for every meal, without that then the food is not complete.

I don't agree to it. After all, the rice is one of the main food in Asia. And this diet habit is healthy. But it is true that the diabetic should not eat a lot of rice because it contains the sugar. They should have a limitation intake to the food like rice, fruits and so on.
I love China

dear sis,
No, there is no such evident that rice is bad for our health.
Here in the Philippines rice is our staple food in the table every meal.
So far, there is no any record shows that eating rice everyday can harm our health.
Maybe your in-laws just conclude from what they hear without any proof.
have a good day

Like what jaiho2009 said that rice is a primary food here in the Philippines but I slightly disagree with him in terms of health issues. Rice is one of the causes of highblood/hypertension/obesity. According to studies rice contains huge amounts of carbohydrates and a person has a carbohydrate limit per day, if we are exceeding our carbohydrate limit per day the result will be obesity why? Because if carbohydrates is not turned to energy then it will stored to our body and it will become fats.

hello guys..
Why blame the rice?
it's the unhealthy way of eating that caused people to die or have those health problem.
Everywhere in the world is having diabetes and hypertension.
Even in the most developed country...where rice is not their primary food, people are dying of same ailments....
Eating too much and poor healthy eating diet causes all health problem and not RICE ALONE

Who tell you that rice is not good for health give me the name of that person i will take legal action against him/her he/she spreading the wrong rumour..
I take rice(plain) both in lunch and dinner time i don't think it is affecting my health. I'm very much fond of rice as i live in west bengal this is the major meal of this state and people of this state are very much smarter. So i suggest you not to give more concentration on that kind of people eat rice morning night wont affect your health.
Don't forget to give the contact of that person..

Rice is the staple food of Filipinos. Rice is nutritious and goes well with any viand. But too much of it can cause diabetes, because it is a sugar forming food, when eaten in very large quantities in one eating.
I eat only a cup of rice at lunch and at dinner, sometimes only 1/2 cup. I have to lessen my intake of rice, or my tummy will get big.
But i cannot help cook fried rice on weekends for our dinner! It's really delicious with some bits of onion, garlic, fried eggs and green peas.

Hi surekha!
In our country, rice is our main course when it comes to meals. Basically,we eat rice three times a day. I eat every kind of rice may it be fried, garlic, java or just plain. My meal is never complete without rice, feels like I'm not full whenever there's no rice, lol!
Your MIL is correct in some ways about eating rice. This will be based on health issues a person has. My father is diabetic and he is adviced by his doctor not to take too much rice, just don't know why, lol! So if you have some diseases and rice is not good, better follow what the doctor says.

i don't think rice is not good for our health, if rice is not good for our health then many people would have been sick because of it, especially Asian people who always have rice in their meals. but if you want a healthier option you can always buy or eat the brown rice

Hi surekha,I don't think rice is not good for health.because many parts of our country as well as china and other, they use rice as a basic meal.I think it depend on how you cook ,like cook in steam or drawn its all nutritious water to make rice.I like dal chawal very much, and I take daily in my meal.so I think you should talk to your sasumaa why she say rice is not good and than try to convince her .

Rice is our staple food. I have been eating rice eversince I know how to eat, maybe at the age of eight months until today. When we were babies mom used to make rice porridge until we were able to eat solid rice. I am not sure whether rice is not good for health but since I am still walking and in robust health eating rice for lunch and dinner, I really don't think that rice is not good for health.

Rice has a lot of health benefits. It is rich in carbohydrates which gives fuels i our body and help our brain to function well. It is also said to prevent cancer and stabilize blood pressure. It is rich in vitamins and prevents Alzheimer's disease. However, there are two kinds of rice. If i am not wrong, we have the whole grain rice and the white rice. The whole grain rice is not processed much so it has a high nutritional value compared to white rice. Rice is our staple food. We can't have meals without rice. Yet, I also heard that eating too much rice cause some health problems as well. I think moderation is a must.

Rice is not bad for health. We eat rice 3 times a day. It really depends on you if you abuse you're eating habits. It makes you fat if you eat too much rice because it is a carbohydrates. If you eat much and work much its result is good. It is like burning fats in you're body. I will it rice eventually because I cannot call it a meal if it does not involve rice. :-)
