My latest obsession!! I have been hooked on and off with reading mangas, but I think it's back on again! I can't get enough of them :D Haven't been sleeping at night, but at the break of dawn, for a few days now coz I keep reading them on my phone lying on my bed
So what's your latest obsession? And do you read/love/like mangas?? I love them, wish I could draw as good though!

LOL! You sound like my daughters. They both love manga. My oldest teenager also likes to draw manga characters. I do enjoy reading them as well and my daughters often "lend" me their books to read after they are done. This not only helps me understand what they are into, but they are enjoyable books too. Plus manga, despite it's fantastical foundations, often have characters that display very real-life characteristics (even the pervert - there's always at least one...lol), and that helps to teach them a little bit about the world around them.
Their love for manga is the main reason they are sad to see Borders closing its doors for good. Borders book stores had the best/biggest manga sections. We've looked in Barnes & Noble and their manga selection was terrible.
Time to start ordering from Amazon I guess.

welcome to the world of mangas!!! i too am a fan and have forgotten when i got started on mangas and animes but it's definitely been years and i'm still watching and reading them during my free time. they're the main reason why i'm online everyday heehhe i enjoyed them so much that i even made a blog on mangas, well on titles that i've read and really enjoyed and wouldn't mind rereading them again, though my blog also contains stuff on dramas and animes that i've enjoyed lots. it's kind of like a diary for me, what each title is about and to watch them again when i have nothing else to do. hehe
http://dramaviews.blogspot.com
for me, there are no specific mangas that are my favourites. there are tons i enjoy. but there are specific genres that i really like, like action and romance. a little bit of romance is a must for me no matter the genre. hehehe and it also depends on the art for me. but i generally go for action romance, fantasy, adventure, etc so long as it contains some romance. not necessarily the mushy kind but something at least. i wish i could draw them well too. but that's just a wish. just recently, i finished defense devil, and it's ok i guess. fairy tail is also ok so far though not much romance. just some slight hints for erza and gerard. hehe recommend me some, and you can see my recommendations (though few) on my blog. enjoy:)

for me, i have no preference on mangas and novels. i love both of them. i enjoy reading oneshots too. the only thing is, sometimes there are oneshots that i really like which i wished would have been longer, that's all. it's a pity though that i don't have much or rather any oneshots in my blog hehe i love romantic comedy too, recently, i'm really loving 'iris zero'. but the only downside is that it's not complete and it takes too long to be updated. i too have that problem with incomplete mangas. hehe but one of my all time favourites is 'from far away' or kare kano, i think. loved that one. enjoy! :)

Thanks a lot for the share. I grew up reading mangas and have been on and off of it for a long time now. I prefer mangas to novels
Anyway well my favorites are onshots coz I really don't like reading mangas with millions of chapters and can simply not wait for ongoing mangas. SO my favorite are oneshots. And I love romantic comedy the most about highschools
and thanks for the recommendations. I'll check them out

Hi thatgirl!
I'm not much into mangas because they are so expensive and I don't have the patience to read them over the internet. But I've read a few and one I can remember is High School Debut. That really got me hooked but I got tired of waiting for the next chapters to come so I stopped reading the manga. ^^
I don't have any particular obsessions right now. Just like you, they come and go. I've been obsessed for Japanese dramas lately (again!) but now it has subsided (I think because of work and school). I do still have a lot of jdoramas I want to watch but I don't have much free time yet.
What manga are you reading now?

I'm familiar with MARS but I do have heard of a Taiwanese drama with the same title. Maybe it's the same? We all know there are so many live action adaptations of many mangas, may it be a Japanese, Korean or Taiwanese drama.

I don't buy mangas as often as I used to buy before but i do buy it occasionally these days. I have read so many one shots in the past few days I can't remember their names properly hehe anyway the one that has a lot of chapters that I'm reading right now is MARS. I remember reading it sometime during the starting of this year but had left it halfway through. I am continuing it again and i can't say how much i love it

I don't doubt why you're obsessed with manga. I also like manga a lot and always await for new episodes every week. I found that manga are really very entertaining and there are also different kinds of manga that will suit our preferences. I’m always fascinated with how the author creates a story that makes you feel like you're involved into it. I’m not sure if you have also felt that way but I do.

Well it won't matter much to me if it has only a few episodes or if it has numerous chapters as long as I like it. I haven't actually portrayed them but the feeling of thrill, romance, suspense, action, drama etc. is there. You can feel it and it's as if though we're into it, yes the involvement is there when you read it and I guess this is one reason why manga has been so popular. Yeah, for sure I'll have a lot more wonderful time to spend reading manga.

I've been reading this one manga and I didn't know it was an ongoing one. I thought it was completed Anyway it's interesting enough to keep me impatient. I keep waiting for new chapters. It's like waiting for the next episode of your favourite tv show. I am going crazy haha!! Joke

I do sometimes portray me as one of the characters my favorite character that is heheh anyway my favorite kind of mangas are oneshots. I don't have the patience to wait for ongoing mangas to be honest and I also don't very often read mangas with numerous series. About 25 chapters are enough for me hehe.
Anyway thanks for the share and have a wonderful time reading the mangas you love

I have no idea myself too!! I guess the people in the mangas are so perfect and the story lines are too good to be true and maybe that is why we love them hehe!!
Anyway you have a good obsession there. I do love reading novels too and I know they'll come back but I just feel I can't be bothered right now coz I still have two unread/untouched novels lying in my room hehe
You stay cool too and have a wonderful day

I believe manga are much like books. Me for an example, i love to read both and i believe the difference between them it's that the manga its a book with pictures and you don't have to make much effort to imagine the characters while and you reading a book you have to imagine everything, but what i like in manga is that they're so much fun and the expressions of the characters sometimes make it funnier.
That's my opinion. They have differences, but i don't have a preference.

Hey thanks for the response. And you are absolutely true on the imagination part. And I also think mangas are more fun to read coz they are colourful and full or pictures while novels are black and white LOL or is it just me??

Yea.. I love manga too. I love them since I was a kid. I have the entire collection of Slam Dunk and I am also collecting series like One Piece and a few ongoing sports manga.
I do read them online too but for those manga I really like, I will buy them as nothing beats reading them on paper.

Manga are in a nut shell, the Japaneses version of comic books in the U.S except that manga aren't ALWAYS funny or they aren't ALWAYS about super heroes. I have known alot of people to mistake Manga for comic books! Also in Manga you read it backwards! :) A big Manga producer that I have found that most of the Manga that you are able to buy in the United States is "Showen Jump" They produce the Manga for Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto, and other Manga's.

Heh, been recently keeping up with One Piece manga after its two-year time skip and also its anime. Good stuff, both of them. I'm also currently quite obsessed with downloading e-comics, especially Marvel's latest comic book event Fear Itself. Do pardon the bout of geekgsam here.

I hate manga but I love anime. I hate reading it I love it when the pictures move though. I was once a mod in a anime site not until last year that I gave it up but I'm still watching anime like Bleach, One Piece, HOTD, Naruto and many more.

Really you hate mangas? For me, I love them both and think they are special in their own kind of ways. Animes are interesting, yes, but I feel things aren't well explained like in the mangas. But yes, to each his own. Thanks for the share and have a wonderful day!!

I am addicted to manga. I'm more addicted to it than anime. Once you go manga, you can never appreciate another Anime again unless it is really good like Code Geass. One thing about a Manga that I like the most is that its action is not that overwhelming, you can imagine what the character would do and how the character would do it. If you have a broad imagination, then Manga is for you.

I don't really have an obsession at the moment. I do spend a lot of time on MyLot, but I don't think it is an obsession. It seems I have trouble turning the computer off before I have played a few hands of solitare though. I guess you could consider that an obsession.

Yeah animes are wonderful too but I think some of the details aren't explained very well like in the mangas. But nevertheless I love them both. I have read bunch of mangas in the past few days. To b honest I don't really like the 100 chapter stories, I would rather read the ones which are short, maybe upto 25 chapters

Yes, what's so special with manga? I know people who are like you, obsessed with manga. I'm not at the obsessed with anything perticular. I have no idea myself too. It's just that I can't stop reading them and start a new one as soon as I finish one hehe. Maybe the stories are too fairytale like and maybe I want something like that, I don't really know actually haha!
I have once rode on a horse and it was really scary! I loved the experience but I think I was scared more.

I also love yu-gi-oh and Pokemon! I guess I am just a little kid at heart! I have really ALWAYS been obsessed with Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. I just love the show and the manga and when I read the Manga or watch the Anime I try to put myself into the story and pretend that I am a character in the story!

Manga is pretty great. I used to be addicted to anime, but I'd read some manga when I could get it cheaply at the store, like Shonen Jump. I also had a subscription at one time but I let it run out, lol. I still have a giant amount of those old Shonen Jumps in my closet to read sometime, but I haven't gotten around to it. XD
