In the company I am working for, there is no holiday, no days free every week, but we can apply for taking the days free if we need but no more than 3 days every month, or it will be deducted from the salary. And we are asked to work overtime, but no pay for the overtime work. In addition, our manager is just the daughter of the chairman, she promises something to us but sometimes break her promise and the thing which make us very angry and disappointed that she doesn't admit that she had promised us something when we request her to carry out her promise.
However this company is very near from our home, sometimes I want to quit my job, but I don't have the courage? What should I do? Please help me, thanks in addvance

First if your boss doesn't pay you for overtime while you are working extra hours, it is illegal. Second, if the company you work for doesn't provide holiday every week demand you to work seven days in a week, then it should pay you overtime too. Third your boss promised you everything and anything but never fullfill her promises to you. The only thing you can do is try to gather up enough courages to resign and go find another decent job without having to be treated like a slave in that company. If you can't do that, then you are out of luck and should lower your dignity to continue submit to the abuses by your boss until you begin to grow some spines behind your back. Nothing much can be done at all if you choose to stick around for sucha lousy job and terrible boss.

Simplyd, believe me, i will not get mad with this horrible boss, but will try to get even with him or her. Boss like this may come to the wrong conclusion that his employee is unable to find other work /job elsewhere, even under ill treatment and unfair working condition from his company. It is worthless to stick around for a slave master like that and leaving will not hurt much either since probably it must be a lousy company and hopeless job for one to hang on. I will not even think twice of leaving ASAP..

Were you given any employment letter before you join the company? Does it state that you wont be paid and given any leave, most important did you sign the letter? You should leave the company if no letter of employment were giveen to you but make sure you have secure another job cause if you leave the company and then you decided to find a job, many employee thinks that you were terminated even if its not your fault.

I have asked myself the same question you have asked for many times. I couldn't even count how many times I have asked myself that. When I started working in my company, I got a very low pay. But after three months of working, my salary increased a bit. But the problem is until now we do not have good benefits like health, social and housing loan benefits. We do not even have any incentives like sick leave or vacation leave. I hated it and I really wanted to quit my job and find a better paying job with complete benefits. But I hesitated due to financial problems. I have been suffering from financial problems so i need to convince myself to stay, pay all my debts and save some money before i quit. Now, I have been working for almost two years still haven't saved enough money. But I have paid my debts and went to school for my masters. I bought some important things and others. However, I still have a plan to quit and find another job in the future. I just have to do some preparation first like pursuing Masteral degree for a high chance of getting hired easily. Attended seminars and joined any workshops.
So, if i were you.. make a plan. Plan everything well so you won't have any regrets. Good luck!!

If you are a citizen of the Philippines, i would advise you to go to the Department of Labor as that company is obviously violating the labor laws in the Philippines.
However, if you are not, then i couldn't give you any other advise but to leave that company if you think you are underpaid, being abused and you're not happy with that.

Robben - You are in China. What about employment opportunities in china? I think it is not bright. What are other employees in your company doing? You say it is very near your home. You can save time in travelling to and fro. So do not leave this job. Try for alternative job and after getting a good one leave this one.

Again it depends on ur qualification, experience and employment opportunities available in companies and places you want. Also consult your close friends/parents and then decide.

Is your company monitored by your labor institutions. You can try to ask what are your rights as a worker and compare it with what you are having. If it turns out that your company is illegally not issuing your rights as laborers, then you can complain it to them. If they don't budge in, try to tell them to the labor institution. Companies like that really are a headache. But if it seems that you are enjoying working there, which I think is not, then just quit on it. There are a lot of other companies willing to give you the right benefits and rights for your talent and skills. The decision will still lie on you. Do what makes you feel right and justified.

Good day Robben2009,
First of all, dont leave yet your company. As for the meantime, just try to be more patience. Let yourself gain an enough experience if you are just newly hired or just a current employee. Perhaps, try to stay for at least 3 more months. And while staying for 3 more months, try to raise your issue into prayers. As prayers do really does wonders and miracles. Who knows, that within that period of 3 months, your company might change the policy. Aside from that, also, try to submit applications to other company as this move somehow be your fallback if your current company does not change their policy towards their employees.
And, if after staying for 3 more months, still, no changes happened. Then that is the time for you to make a final decision. That is to file a resignation for leaving your post. Since you have give them an ample time as well as you have merely gained some knowledge and experience. That would be enough weapon in order for you to be hire again on another company.
Thus try to be patience first and pray before getting into final decision.
Hope this will somehow help you to clear up your mind. Have a nice day.

I think you should start looking for another decent job since you are finding it very difficult to get the best of the job.

That must be really hard for you. Without overtime pay is not good at all. If that's in my case I'll probably look for another job. But the good thing in everything you said is that it's near to your home which you can save a lot. Just take time to think of it, if you're not happy then you have to go...I'll pray for what your heart desire.. :)

Dont quit your job before find an other one even thecompany is so illegal i cant imagine a company like that here in the us i would love to work for them and make some money with them cause they abusing the employees. As i say don't rush quit your job just look for an other one before you quit. And if you work overtime you should get paid for that.

Either to bear all the annoying things or take the courage to quit it. If I encountered this kind of company, I will choose to go. The thing that I hate the most is cheating.

I'm really sorry to hear about your job. That really sucks, talk about illegal, g-wiz. Find another job first and be prepared to travel a little. I know it's convenient to work close to home, but screw that. Also, contact a lawer or research labor laws. There could be a lawsuit for you. Good luck.
