Mother Earth, like us, also have lungs.

The Amazon Rain Forest is the largest in the world. It has often been called the lungs of the Earth, because of its circulation of oxygen as a pump for energy released through transpiration which leads to rain bearing clouds that benefit areas as far-flung as Northern Europe and Scandinavia. The feedback mechanism from rainforest destruction would not only directly impact on warming but could also result in the decline of rainfall in these areas. I hope that all our rain forests are well-preserved to substantially help us cope with the effects of global warming.

Our rain forest are not only badly preserved, but are destroyed day by day by companies who use ancient trees to make all sorts of things. They are also polluting the seas and they have so much power that no government can stop them. If you search at a toolbar, you will see how many miles the Amazon Rain Forest had, let´s say, 10 years ago, and how much it has now.

That is really true. I have also read that they have touched it. I don't know why people just cannot stop doing that when it can totally be harmful. They are taking so much risk and I hope these people will just stop.

I was talking about the Amazon Rain Forest Professor. But I also believe that there has been plenty of illegal logging here in Philippines and the biggest logging is run by a politician. It is very bad. Now it is almost raining here everyday and there are numerous flooded places. It is truly bad.

This would mean that we need to plant more trees and take good care of them. Not just simply planting trees, trees needs nurturing as well.

Hi thetis74! Forests are a precious gift of nature and the sooner mankind learns to value them, the better, I believe. I can not say particularly for the rain forests, but what I CAN say is that forests help in balancing atmosphere, lithosphere and the hydrosphere. Control of carbon dioxide level, replenishment of oxygen, precipitation, rise of water table, prevention of soil erosion, addition of humus to soil, survival of wildlife: these are all the doing of forests, to name a few. Indeed, rain forests induce precipitation over larger areas and have luxuriously rich wildlife. Hence, preserving them becomes even more essential. I hope people understand that soon! Have a good day!!

Yes, I hope they do. And I think many do understand. It is just that they take it for granted for profitable reasons why some intentionally destroys part of it. I appreciate it vkatrx. Welcome to mylot. Have a good day to you too.
