So, I've been thinking of buying a digital slr for a long time now and I came to a point where I can't decide between 2 cameras. They are both great cameras and relatively cheap but i can't decide. Maybe someone with more experience in this thing can help me dicide.

I think Canon will make a better camera. Most of the people will recommend Canon. i didn't have any DSLR camera though, but many of friends do and many prefer Canon over Sony.
Beside looking at the Mega Pixel, you should also look at the ISO value. it determine how good will your night shot will be. The higher the better the quality of the picture. If I'm not mistaken, Canon have better ISO value compares to Sony at the same price.
My recommendation, unless you want to spend a lot of money on camera you should buy Canon. Cheaper than Sony but with better specification. That's just my opinion though.

Yeah, ISO represent the ability of the camera to take picture dark. Maybe a research and review about both camera will help a bit. A comparison made by professional photographer will be more helpful.
I also had a Sony camera, DSC T-99D, and I like it. But it cannot be our base to chose a DSLR camera as DSLR camera are different compares to the point and shoot camera.

As far as I know ISO reperesnts the camera's capability to take shots in the dark with a relatively low exposure times. All my friends reccomend the Canon but I alreade own a sony camera DSC H10 and I like it , thats why I cincidered a Sony.

Well I may be able to help you. What is going to be your main focus for photography with your camera and will it be as hobby or professional. If it is hobby I would say the Canon is just fine but if you mean it for serious business Sony would be the way to go between the two. I hope this helps you to decide.

I kinda want best of both worlds plus I don't think I'll be buying another DSLR any time soon. Plus there are a lot of cheap lenses for sony , 3rd party ones.

I'd say canon, but that's mainly because I have a canon camera myself :-)
However, unless they've changed the bodies on the 100series, beware of dust. The one I had got dust inside it and it was really tricky to get rid of it. It's not so annoying if you have automatic sensor cleaning, but still not a 100 % dustproof. One of the reasons I got a more expensive camera, but I take a lot of pictures in dusty places. (show jumping competitions for example)
