What's the disadvantages of telling lie?

In my opinion, A liar is never trusted and esteemed by others and his words even when he speaks truth,are not believed.What's your view?

Generally, when you tell one lie, you need to continue to embellish and make up more lies to cover for the lie you told... so it becomes a great big snowball that you need to keep ahead of... takes far too much energy trying to keep a lie going... honesty is the best policy, and is probably easier on the brain cells!
