Have you read and did you like The Dome? I listened to it on audio book and found it a great story--full of characters and typical Stephen King situations. It's a litte bit sci-fi but mostly just scary (not all that much) and lots of unique characters. A good villain runs the show and I recommend it as a summer read.

I am an avid Stephen King reader. Have read almost everything he has written. Always waiting for the next venture. "The Dome" was, as usual, a good read. Suspenseful to the very end, however, I was a bit disappointed that he stole the ending from his wife's (Tabitha) book, "Small World". Which reminds me that I have to start reading more Tabitha. ;-)

I think the last SK book I tried to read before Under the Dome was Lisey's Story, I just could not get into it for some reason. I read a free sample of his new book about the JFK assassination so I'm looking forward to reading that when I can afford to get it.
I have not read any Tabitha King before, is there anything in particular you recommend?

I listened to the audiobook a couple of years ago and now am trying to read it. (By trying I mean, whenever I have time to do it, not trying as in it's too hard, lol!) I have found that in general I don't enjoy King's recent work as much as the older ones, but I do like this book. It has a large cast of characters and told by multiple points of view so in some ways it reminds me of The Stand (my absolute favorite of his books) but enough different that it's not just a rehashing of The Stand.

The Stand is one of my favorite Stephen King books as well, rapunzelcat.
I noticed that you said that you couldn't get into Lisey's Story. I didn't really think I would like that book and put off reading it for some time. Finally, I decided to read it and found it really creepy in an unhealthy way!!

Hello woodymarx
I finally read Stephen King's, The Dome, this past January. It was pretty simplistic, and not really a favorite of mine, even though I regard myself as a very big fan of King (all the King's, really -- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Elvis, and the King of Kings included.)
It did provide some good escapism for a couple of days!
