Imagine one day without gadgets.

Today we are surrounded by too many gadgets and we can not think about life without them. Just imagine a day when your all gadgets stop working then what would you do. I would like to make full fun on that day. I would like to go to the countryside with my family, like to listen the pure music of running water of the stream, chripping of birds, smell the flowers. I want to spend the day with nature.

I might be able to make it through one day but not any more. I usually have the tv on and am on the computer at the same time so I don't know what I would do. If I could drive up into the mountain I do think I could do without the gadgets.. Ya, I could do it then. Gadgets, hmmph!

I can't imagine how that would be like because at work we all use computers. Modern technology is very important that I don't think humans can go on without them just for one day. Many people will lose their job and communication between individuals will be very hard if they're far away from each other.

Yeah, I was thinking of mass technology stopping all at once, like what happened to War of the Worlds.

Hi frontvision101 No one lose his/her job if only for one day the gadgets do not work. It is common that once at a time some thing goes wrong and we have to wait till it will repaired.

I think I can do that. I went for a while with no phone. I actually enjoyed it. I was not required to text or call or respond to anyone. I would see these people in the office anyway, so what's the need to have a cell phone, right? I didn't need internet connection at that time either because I was busy with my painting and with catching up on my reading. Losing the gadgets won't be so bad. It would actually be refreshing.

My husband and I do this 55 to 60 days a year, on purpose. No computer, no nothing. We go 100 miles north into "no-mans land". We enjoy the great out doors and conversations around the camp fire. We appreciate the wild flowers, birds and animals of the forest. We take pictures true, but that's it. We smell the flowers and hike the streams. All our friends up there actually talk to each other. We never text. We share stories and helpful advice on beautiful spots in the forest we may not have seen. We answer simple questions like, is pine good to use as fire wood. How do you make chicken over an open fire. Some go fishing and bring the catch back to share with everyone. In fact I'm preparing to leave right now. Have a great day!

Hi 2004cqui Your story sounds so beautiful. It's great to hear that you got a break of 55-60 days every year and just enjoy it in woods and forests. You really know the meaning of beauty, nature and all that. It simply bring close to your friends as talking face to face leave much longer impression than talking on phones or internet. Best of luck for your trip.

Well, that is a nice scenario. Personally, that wouldn't pose a big problem for me because although I use many of this gadgets, I can go without them. I have always put it in my mind that these gadgets serve only the purpose for which they are designed and so it would make no sense that I would be addicted to them or be stuck with them. There are many things I usually do without these gadgets, foremost of them is reading and writing so when I came across this site, bingo, that's it. Anyway, I appreciate your idea. Maybe this would help person who are really addicted or stuck to these gadgets to the point that they are missing out the other important things in life. Good day! :-)

Hi Harmonics Be the master of the gadgets but not there servant. When we become servant then we can not do without them. Gadgets are for our help only so addicted to them is really painful, But this is the truth that we all are used to it. Let's try to spend a day without them.

A world without technology. First I'd be super bored, I mean I can't even call my friends to see if they wanted to do anything. I think in the afternoon (weather permitting) I would go outside, probably go feed the ducks, go for a walk, explore. Something like that. After supper, I would probably try to go to my friends house (if I could find a way to get hold of them) and play board games and cards. One thing I like about power outages is that it's an excuse to play games with family and friends.

I will make up for my loss time by sleeping longer hours. Nothing can prevent me from my sound sleep and wake me up again in the middle of the night. Cool!

If I will live one day without gadget, I will spend my day to bond with my family. Create a bonfire and discuss any topics that would interest each other. Story telling to know more about them and spending time with them to keep the relationships intact.

I can't even imagine that day. But I think it would be great. And I would like to spend the day with nature too. I would ask my friends for a picnic, or go for a walk in woods, parks etc. Or just read book in the nature and enjoy all sounds by nature.

If that day comes that is the end of our civilization. Just like other civilization we may end up. We live now with gadgets or should I say with the help of technology.
6 Aug 11
In our everyday life wherever we are we use gadgets, and I don't know how we could last a day without using one, but maybe if that happened we will be back to talking to friends personally, instead of texting, calling and e-mail, maybe also we will appreciate nature more and we will be closer to family because we have time to talk to them longer. but I guess doing that once in awhile is nice:)

Life without gadget would be really like my childhood life. Skip the TV that I watch, I used to play a traditional game with my friends. Hide and seek, running, enjoying play under rain, and many more! What a great life, lol. But nowadays, gadgets really give many ease from us. So I can't really imagine life without gadget at this rate. Now I am a bit older, not a child anymore xD. So when there's no gadget anymore, instead enjoying the nature, I think I just have to work harder to finish my job around. Because it would be harder without gadgets :P.

I have the same thought as you. I grew up in a a village. There are so many mountains that were teeming with wild life. There are rivers where we took our clothes to wash and sometimes fished there. It is a lot of fun to spend the time with nature. But now it seems a little bit far away from me.
