What Would You Rather?

I am the type of person to be laid back when it comes to other people but when it comes to myself I am always worrying and kind of uptight sometimes. Especially when change happens. I get worried and fearful. I like pretty much the same things going on each day. Most people would say that is way too boring for them. Would you rather have a boring life with pretty much the same routine day to day? Or would you rather have a life filled with change? Of course if it was up to you completely...

The same routine please. I hate surprises, even good ones. I rather get to a happy place and stay there.

Ditto for me, definitely. Change for the sake of change is silly. Find the sweet spot and bask in it, IMHO!

I agree with both of you. I definitely do not like change. That is because most change that has come into my life has been bad. It has ended up terrible so now I guess I fear it to a degree...

Hi LovingMyBabies, Yes, it depends. There are routines that i like to be done the same way. And, there are some routines that i think needs to be changed. If a routine becomes boring, i need to change.

I don't get bored easily at all so the same routine would never bother me at all. I wish I could just have the same routine that would be really nice... Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for me.

Since i became a victim of Muscular Dystrophy 40 years ago and now leading a retired and wheelchairbound and compulsory homebound life i am forced to lead a regulated and routine life day in and day out. However and surprisingly my daily routine has never caused me to be either bored or sick of my life.In fact every day brings new challenges which ilike to face and solve in the best way i can.You will not believe but i have not left the 4 walls of my house since 1992 and i have absolutely no idea what is happening outside my house.Yet i am happy with my present state of existence and would not want to change it for anything.

Wow, I'm so sorry that this happened. =( You seem grateful and not bitter at all which I think is incredible! I admire you for that attitude. I am not sure I would have that same type of attitude if it was me in your shoes. I cannot tell you enough how much I admire you for it. =)

The way you describe yourself, is just like myself. Of course I would like to improve myself, or make myself better. But compared to the unknown, I would rather have the routine day to day. I think it is borne out of being a control-freak for a little bit. Because when it is routine, at least I could have control over my life. And I could predict where it is headed.

Yeah change for me gives panic attacks on and I don't need those. I don't need to control everything but some things it would be nice to know ahead of time...

i love routine. having bipolar disorder i thrive on routine. without routine i get anxious and panicking, and will probably cancel whatever change is happening so in order to get my routine back.. i do like spontanious things to happen, but only if they are spontanious.. if its something different planned ahead of time.. i end up dreading it as time goes on.

i'm the same.. terrible way to be i think. change is always going to happen. it's horrible not being able to cope with it.

I understand. Change scares me and I have panic attacks from it. I cannot handle change and I would say I fear it.

I would rather have a life filled with change as I find the same routine every day tedious and boring. Also, I find being spontaneous can be fun and exciting

Most people probably do agree with you. Its just my nerves that get to me with a lot of change. I have had many problems because of change so now I am afraid of it. Most changes that I have encountered have not ended up in my favor...

I still believe in living life to the fullest. Though it is quite a boring world where I live in I try to inject some changes to my life like going round to other places of interest just for a change of environment. Yes, I want to see a change of my lifestyle and to fill my life doing something that I truly enjoy. I am fed-up of living my day to day existence imprisoned within the four walls of my home. Since the children have left the nest, it is time to reward myself with a ME time of fun and pleasure with friends of my age.

Well I don't mind change if its something good but I have not experienced many good changes in my life. So I would much rather have the same old thing every day.

I have had both and now I am very content to have it boring! Maybe not so boring as in order. No surprises! I had alot of them when my kids were teens. The best part right now is to hear my own kids talk about some of the "surprises" my grandkids are giving them now when they are now at the same ages as when they offered me a few "surprises"! LOL.....love it!

I would love to have what others call boring for my life. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for me. I feel like almost every day it's something else stressing me out. Something major. All of the changes that have come into my life have been bad ones so I don't have any desire for change. I would much rather have things boring but I cannot change it.

I'm laid back but I also like a little excitement once and while nothing too crazy but a little change now and then would be welcome in my life because lately my life seems like the film Groundhog Day lol I get bored quick and I'm the kind of person who can't stand doing the same things over and over again life is not meant to be stagnant or boring life is meant to be lived to it's fullest and enjoyed, and also I think it's meant for us to leave our mark and contribute to the world in some way Life is short and before we know it it's over, and on to the next stage, I think being stagnant is a waste and not a part of gods plan but if we choose to be content doing nothing our creator will allow it because free will is part of living that said I prefer a life of leaser when it's needed but I enjoy new experiences as well.

I am a laid back person as well. I do not like change at all. Most changes that have come into my life have only made things harder on me so I would rather have boring most definitely. I do not get bored easily at all. I enjoy some new things but not life changing things. I don't like not knowing and I definitely don't like when things in my life get worse than they are now.

I see, well I like a little change so long as it's positive changes I don't like negative changes either but positive fun changes are welcome for me and my boring life, I do get bored quick, and I need some fun new experiences now and then, but no stressful bad experiences.

I prefer some solid daily routines in my mundane life as a secure base with some added changes coming into my life. I like to learn new skills. When I've learned the basic knowledge I find new areas to discover and to explore for new knowledge to absorb. By interacting with people worldwide I learn new things.

That kind of change is good. Unfortunately the change that comes into my life is almost never good. So I guess to a point I am afraid of change...

I want my life is filled with diversity. I do not want every day to be uniformity and the same. I think I'm just accustomed every day to have a bunch of tasks and when there is nothing to do die just boredom. Have a nice day!

Hello lovingmybabies, I am not the person like you i always like adventures. I don't like things to be same every day as then life will be boring. Imagine always if there is happiness around you then you will not be able to see the small happinesses. Its important that you face hard times also so that you may understand what happiness is otherwise there will be not much importance of happiness in your life. GOD also knows it thats why he has made all different seasons in a year there is summer, winter, rain etc. So for me changes are necessary to enjoy life.

I knew some would feel that way, lol. Thats okay because were all different. =) Your right about saying if there were no sadness than happiness would not be as important. I never really thought about it that way... Changes can be good but most of the time for me their not... =(

Most people would agree with you. I know that. I don't have a boring steady life, I just wish I did. I would feel more comfortable and I would know what is coming each and every day.

My life is basically a routine and I live by it day after day because I'm use to it. But because my day is so predictable, it prevents me from expecting the unexpected because I'm unsure if actually ready or prepared for it. My friends are always seeking change and finding something out of the norm to do. When I do experience change, I'm always fearful and anxious but when I did experience it, I actually enjoyed it. It's alright to have your way of life but it won't hurt to try something new. You never know, change may build up to something unexpected and exciting!

I do have things that I do try new, however it's not life altering things. This move that we are about to do scares me a lot. We are completely out of our comfort zone with no one around to help God forbid we need it. I wish I had a boring life with a certain routine. Every time I think I am getting close to that my husband gets laid off or loses his job so we are moving again. It is horrible!

When I was in middle school, we used to get in trouble everyday with the teachers or parents haha. Then, I used to think why isn't my life simple like the others have and why is it so full of challenges everyday! Now, I have a very laid back life and it is the same everyday. It's boring and now I think life before was really better haha so i think i'd rather have life with challenges or is it just coz it's not that way right now. like they say you want what you don't have.

I have plenty of challenges every day but if it was up to me life would be steady. With how many times my husband has been laid off and we have moved and been homeless things are never easy for us or boring. I just wish they were. At least here where we are right now I know pretty much what crap is going to hit us next. With moving to another state and not knowing anyone or having a lot of family it scares me...
