Obama gets the old "one two punch" for his Birthday

First, Wall Street hands Prs. Obama the first punch... the dramatic drop of the Dow Jones average, and right on his birthday! But the presents just keep on a-rollin' in. Today Standard & Poor reduced the United State's credit rating from the top rating (AAA) to the next step down (AA+). No one can say "but that's happened with other presidents" because it's never happened... ever before. No one can say "it's Bush's fault" because it isn't about the economy, the recession or anything else Bush did. It's about the runaway spending. In fairness, everyone in Congress who supported the massive spending scams shares blame here. They have presided over the most irresponsible and failing economic policy in the history of the United States of America. The DNC/RNC mafia can't be forgotten here either.

But what about the terrorist tea party? They have been against this all along and have been consistently called derogatory names for their common sense views. Lets point to facts. You are right, Obama can not pass the buck here, nor can the majority of Congress. But lets give credit where it is due, the newbies in Washington that have been fighting this. 2012 needs to bring in more new people ths is the only way to stop the business as usual.

Its time everyone shared the blame the public included. I have been a witness to how money is handled by individuals in the United States unlike here in India the first thing we think about is saving. Most of us are allergic to credit cards but out there they are married to it! Credit cards are nothing but living on borrowed funds.

Total and complete BS propaganda designed to make sure no one in any position of responsibility ever has to accept any. We aren't the ones who make decisions or spent the federal money.

One needs to have a holistic approach to any crisis and to contain it what is necessary is to look at it from different angles. The entire country should rise to the occasion. The sub prime fiasco is a reminder indeed!

You're right. All the idiots in Washington share this one. But as President, Obama is the real one to blame. He hasn't learned that yet - that a leader is responsible for what happens on his watch. Perhaps now he'll learn. But...if folks who say he wants to ruin the country are right, I'm sure he's pleased.

Not everyone in Washington, just those idiots who voted for the out of control spending. Congress was supposed to reign it in.

Very nice. Fair and balanced disgust. I agree totally. The blame does go back to previous administrations and Congresses though. This situation didn't occur just in the past couple of years. But there is a DNC connection question regarding the timing. Assuming the rating is restored right before the election next year, they will claim their President and Senate took they lead on getting it back. I think the election is too far away to think S&P is in league with the RNC to make Obama look bad, so I'm looking closely at the DNC this afternoon. -The Conspiracy Rat

Absolutely false, Balthasar. Not once did any past administration or congress (under either party) spend to the point that our credit rating was ever threatened. There have never been budgets in the trillions, EVER! Not even accounting for inflation. No president and Congress has ever spent money as wildly and irresponsibly as the current president, and the Congresses that were constituted during his administration. Prs. Bush's biggest deficit was $413 billion. Obama has yet to have a deficit under $1 Trillion! Sorry, but this one is all Obama and the members of Congress who voted to support his wasteful boondoggles (that didn't work, btw).
