I have joined an online library - at safari and find it is really useful, although I don't really sit down and read books on the computer very often Safari is a technical book library so it has lots of books about computers/internet/software and some business/managment books. If you buy these books they will probably average around $30-60 each, and, with computing software books particularly, you will need to buy a new book when the next version of the software comes out. For technical books it is quite good because you can read a vast number of books whenever you want, or just read selected chapters from many books if you are researching a particular topic. You can basically have an unlimited access fot $40 a month which is ok for this sort of thing, what do you think?

As I love books and reading, I don't mind if the library is online or a traditional one in a building. Safari might be a great option.

Safari's particularly good if you want to do a technical project or work in IT because you can get access to a vast amount of up-to-date technical books (very important in I.T.)- you can do a content search, or read all of the book or just selected chapters of a lot of books that are covering a particular topic you may be researching.

I am personlly not fond of reading in front of my computer. I have tried it once and feel dizzy after a few hours. I prefer laying on my bed, with a real book in my hand.

We can access part of safari for free at our national library too. But a personal account...eh...i prefer buying and holding the book...and boy do I have too many books from Wrox, McGraw Hill, John Wiley, etc....stacking up on the book shelves and on the floor. All sorts of programming languages books...graphics, mathematics, arts, self-help....no wonder I am so poor. Now I am learning to borrow from the library more often...but I do still buy the paperbacks. Only when I really want to read in Safari do I go there. I probably won't subscribe with my own money.
