meaning behind the colors of flowers

Hello.. Recently I am confused. I have this guy best friend. We've been friends since we were in grade school. I usually talks with him. I tell him everything ( except for girly stuffs ) I know him as much as he knows me. We have no secrets with each other. Some of our friends were always teasing us that we should be lovers instead of just being best friends since both of us has love life.We just smiled at each other whenever they are teasing us. I know he don't like me because i am not the kind of girl that he will like since he told me of his ideal girl. And of course I am protecting the friendship that we have because I don't want to lose him as my best friend.
But 2 weeks ago,he gave me a bouquet of white flowers. I don't know why because it's not my birthday nor its not valentines day. ( since every valentines he gives me white roses ) I asked him why he is giving me flowers bus he just smiled.
I don't want to give meaning for that but i can't sleep at night thinking of that.
Can you help me? what do you think is the meaning of white roses?

It might just be a friendly gesture.
I think what might be a better question... If you are completely honest with yourself, would you like more from this man? Would you like him to be more than a friend?
If the answer is no, take the flowers as a friendly gesture and say no more about it.
If the answer is yes, then why not talk to him? What would you have to lose? And what would you have to gain?

I might choose to be his friend only. I don't want to lose the friendship that have for years now.. So I'd rather take that as a friendly reason of giving me white flowers.. Thank you!
