I actually wear panty liners most of the time. I used those breathable ones and unscented ones. I feel comfortable and clean wearing this every day. However some of my friends say that you can develop kidney problems in the future. I would like to ask your opinion on this. Do you wear panty liners every day?

I would avoid wearing them. I think the commercials will just say that it's breathable but I just don't believe that. I have learned that these products are made from recycled paper and my gynecologist even advised me not to wear underwear at home because anyone can be prone to infection since the bacteria likes to thrive on warm and moist environment. She even advised to wear 100 percent pure cotton underwear. You can still be fresh without it. I get to wash several times a day or change underwear several or wear loose cotton under shorts at home. It isn't advisable for women who are prone to infection specially yeast and urinary tract infections.

Some panty liners have high quality and I can attest to that. So far I don't encounter problems using them specially in those days that I have discharge. I just change them more often than changing the panty itself. But It is best to consult my own OB for that.

I dont like breathable. The discharge just go through the hole and makes your undies wet. I prefer the super dry or those scented. I like those with tea tree oil scent.

Hi pepperpopper! I use the breathable ones during regular days. For light period, I use a light napkin instead of pantyliners. I tried using a scented panty liner before but I prefer the unscented ones.

I never heard that panty liners can develop kidney problems, much better if you will visit your OB-Gynie regards to that.

My friends say that you can develop urinary tract infection due to prolonged wear of pantyliners. Well I think it is better to ask an OB instead. They can give you more accurate answers.

I guess wearing panty for too long if you have discharge will also cause tract infection. Bacteria will also accumulate there since the cloth will absorb some liquid. Whether it is underwear or pantyliners, I guess we should not wear it for too long.

Yes, wearing panty liners everyday and long hours can develop diseases. The thing is there is a plastic component of pantyliners same is through with feminine napkins. It can produce inflammatory and rashes to female organ. More advisable that you will only use it during ovulation period or before your expected menstrual. The organ wants to breath too and hates heat.

Hi maean! I'm actually using the breathable kind of panty liner. There is no plastic component unlike the super dry one. So it is very comfortable to use as if there is no panty liner there at all.

Same here, I don't wear panty liners at home. I only wear when I go to work. I just wear underwear at home but I don't use other cloth as my liners.

Hi flowerfest! I also wear pantyliners every day except weekends. So far, I don't have tract infection unlike before. So I guess panty liners works for me. But it is best to ask my OB regarding this.

Wearing pantyliner everyday can lead to bacterial infection! I know you say its breathable but the adhesive at the bottom of it is made of plastic and skin is unable to breathe through plastic. If your pantyliner has a breathable backsheet instead, then there would be added chemicals in it which could irritate the skin. I always say, the less chemicals the better!
Pantyliners were made more for spotting days than for wearing daily basis. I thought of using them once too everyday so it would make washing my undies easier since there's no contact between the skin and the undies but reading up on it made me think twice. Try those disposable undies.

I use the breathable and unscented one. I noticed that some panty liner has a plastic back sheet but the one I've been using is not plastic at all. I can attest that it is really comfortable for every day use.

Thanks Chiyosan! I heard the same thing with my friends. I've been using pantyliners for almost 4 years now and I don't have any urinary tract infection. But of course I don't want to develop it in the future.

Hi chiwasaki!
I'm not sure about the kidney problems, I have never heard of that. But a friend told me once before that you can easily get UTI if you wear pantyliners everyday. I don't know if it's true though. I think I might ask this when I go back to my doctor.
But I don't really wear pantyliners everyday. I don't feel comfortable when I'm wearing one because it feels warm. I only wear a pantyliner when I'm expecting my period and when my period is finished or almost finished.
I think it's best not to wear pantyliners most of the time since no matter how breathable it is as they say, it would still hamper the flow of air there.

I wear pantyliners almost every day or to be exact, if I'm in the office or at work. I don't wear it when I'm at home. I totally agree with you, it is best to ask your own doctor regarding this.

Hi cammilletherese! I also use it almost every day. I don't have problems with it so far. Way back in college, I have a slight UTI, I tried using panty liners and actually it works for me.

I don't wear pantyliners very often. I know some people that spot though and need to do so, I on the other hand do not. I can't see it being bad for you in any way though. If you're really concerned I would just suggest bringing it up with your OBGYN when you have your next appointment. Until then, I think you'll be fine! :-)

Yes indeed I'm going to ask my OB regarding this. So far, I don't have any problems using this as well. Probably it is a matter of how often you use it.

I think it is safe to use every day since it keeps your panty clean from the discharge. I think you will only develop tract infection if you wear the panty liners for too long.

Bacteria can also accumulate in the panty liners. Yes it can develop infection probably if you wear it too long let us say for the whole day. But some discharge can stay on the panty as well which is also not good.

Your friends are right in telling you it's not safe. Check the product love moon anion. It's a panty liner and they also have sanitary pads that has ion in it to make you healthy when using it.
Ordinary pantiliners and sanitary pads use cottons that are unsafe to our body. It can cause irritation to our genitals.

Me, I don't regularly wear panty liners. I only use it before menstrual period and after. and it is advised to change new liner every hour so as not to irritate us from infection. Too much usage of it without proper hygiene will develop problem on the external genitalia and the cervix, rather than on the kidney itself...

Hi miessy! I totally agree with you. If we are wearing panty liners, we just need to change it more often. Bacteria accumulation can lead to more serious problem.

I have to use liners all the time as I "leak" from a prolapsed uteris. Now with that said that in it self give you a higher chance of getting a uti, but my obgyn said to use liner, maxies what ever works, but too keep your self clean and change them often. I do not get utis from this and I have been like this for over five years. One just has to be carefull and keep your self clean and change them on a regular basis. Yes they do collect bacteria, but so do your underwear. I use alway cleaning wipes or a baby wipe to make sure I am clean. Good luck!

Hi catof1! I've been using panty liners for years now. Yes I think underwear can also get bacteria just like panty liners. It is just a matter of changing them more often to keep you clean. I agree with you, I've been to my doctor last month and so far, no signs of UTI.

hi dear friend, i use panty liners and i am using them from past six years. i have never developed any urinary tract infection, so i think that not must be the case.i pray to GOD that i do not develop any urinary tract infection in future also. but i think the females who have discharge problem, should change their liners fast. they should not carry it all along the day , night till the next day they take bath, that can give an infection. personal physical hygiene is very important for everyone so infection can develop if you go in a mall and go to some very dirty toilet to pee. so there can be many cases . it is not just panty liners that can be the case for urinary infection.

I think its good to use pantyliners daily to also keep the underwear clean and easy to wash. I don't use it everyday but it is important to have it when working. It helps to absorb odor and wetness and keep the panty clean for long hours especially if your working and you don't carry an extra underwear. There is a possibility of UTI if you don't replace them often or when you use a cheap pantyliner that easily tear or the fiber easily tear. I think I would wear that too more often, I think its good practice for personal hygiene.
