Tomorrow is Friendship day so Happy Friendship Day to all mylotters

Friendship is not something to celebrate on a single day. That's just commercialisation gone mad, like "Secretary Day" and all the other ridiculous nonsense that comes out of the US (mostly). To me, this is a horrible idea. Friendship is something that doesn't need a special day or a gift. It's something that's always there, that we should always show we appreciate. By defining a day as 'Friendship Day' and commercialising it so cynically, we demean the nature of friendship. Just my opinion, of course.

Hi sis! I don't celebrate that day but I remember once we have such hand band or friendship belt like the one you said just now. I don't celebrate friendship day, mothers day, fathers day teacher day as I can't see any relevant on it. For me we should love those people everyday not in just certain particular days. Don't ask me about our friendship as I take serious any relationship I have. So of course they are all important to me. You too.No doubt!!(^^)

Hello friend, Friendship day is on July 20th in my country. I agree partially with Spike in the previous box : there should not be a particular day for friendship, all days are good for friends. But a friendship day can also be a good excuse to send some kind messages to our best friends.

Happy Friendship day to you and all of your loved ones. Here in Sweden we do not celebrate any Friendship day. But it is a good gesture to celebrate Happy friendship day here on mylot with all worldwide friends. It's so wonderful to be here on mylot among friends. Heartily smiles and laughter to you!

Surekha: Thanks for informing about Friendship day on first sunday. On that day I will interact with mylot friends and other friends who come online. A friend in need is a friend indeed. I have had experience of having friends for longer time and the friendship breaking in fraction of a minute. Yes. friendship is thick and at the same time very weak.

I think that in theory it is a nice idea. However, I agree with several other responders that it seems that many of these "special days" are just marketing ideas for businesses to earn more money. They are too commercialized and less ... spontaneous, perhaps. I think that it is more special for someone to bring me a single rose just because they saw it, found it to be beautiful, thought of me and wanted me to have it to show that they cared and were thinking about me than for them to buy something on a particular day because they thought they needed to in order to show that we are friends. Please do not misunderstand me - I am not saying that this day is not special to some and should not be celebrated. I am just saying that it probably would not be the way that I would choose to celebrate my friendship with someone. In these days of fast paced living, tension and stress, though, I can understand why people would want to set aside one day to make sure that they remember to let the people close to them know how special they are.

Friendship definitely important to everyone here. I would be happy to celebrate such important day within August. But it is the first time I ever heard of such holiday. So in India, does the college allow students to take a day off from such celebration? Happy friendship day my friend.

Hello my sweet friend! This is the first time I have heard there is a specific day of Friendship holiday and or celebration. How cute but we must all remember that friendship is a continual day. Though having a specific day is cute and serves as a reminder just like Mothers day where although Mothers are loved all year round they are specifically honored on one day. So honoring friends on one day is a treat.

Your discussion is sweet and very considerate. Sometime we people need to be reminded that our friends are are allies and not our enimies. We need to remember this through the year, but this just like mothers day and fathers day is a a good reminder of what we HAVE today with our friends. Sometimes we forget this and get too caught up in our troubles and having too much fun.

Happy friendship day. That is a cool thing to celebrate. I don't think it's cool to spend all that money like that though. Like we don't have enough holidays that beg us to empty our wallets on them! Haha. I am on a mission to get all my Christmas presents for free or hugely discounted this year. It is important to learn the value of a simple hug and a kind word. No need to shell out a ton of cash to let someone know you care.
