Is is bad or over kill when you press the + sign in every conversation and for every one you like? I do this almost every time since I like the topic and the people who respond.

Its good to rate. Many people don't bother, I know, but rating is used in the earnings calculation and if you think that someone has given a good response, you owe it to them to rate it and thus to help them earn more. I tend not to rate those responses where the person has not taken care to give the best quality I think they are capable of ... and I NEVER give a negative rating unless the response is definitely not 'in the spirit of MyLot' (and therefore should be reported as well).

Once again thanks sir to solve my query because this question was also in my mind so I rated only some discussions and some responses. But now I will read carefully and then rated it means if we rated to all if that is good responses then no problem.

Good point. If it's a friend of mine and I know they are capable of writing substantial information I will rate them +, if I do not know the person and it's lets say just a one liner and not informative at all well you know what happens.

I don't see anything wrong with plus rating all the time if all is withing the health of the community. I do so myself very often and always appreciate members for taking the time to respond to my so few started discussions. I have rated discussions where I have not participated with if I find that that it is again healthy for the community.

Yes I did see the post above and also knew we have a limit. The limit is 11 - 15 per member in 24 hour period. This means each member can get that many daily. mysdianait made a discussion about a year ago informing us all that we had a limit daily. We all experimented with it and some were able to do 11, 15, 18. There is a limit daily so that no one abuses the system.

I do too and it isn't bad,it is good for you and the person you are rating. No, you don't earn by rating someone positive, but it is a lot better than rating them negative, which can affect your rating as well..I rarely rate negative, and if someone is doing something like spamming posts, then instead of the - sign, I report it instead..

I think it is a good idea to press the + as often as possible. I'd say I press it 99.9% of the time. If someone starts a discussion that I feel inclined to respond to, they are guaranteed a + for writing a discussion I find worthy of my time & effort. I seldom if ever hit the - button instead opting to not hit either button when I feel the discussion isn't worthy of my time!!! I save the - button for those who are rude & disgusting or who do not write with quality!!!

I don't think it is very bad to press + sign but however we must understand what we must press "+" button to only those responses or comments whom we think is deserving. We must think whether it deserves or not and it will all depend upon our way of thinking. We should not misunderstand that we must press "+" button for only those responses who agrees to your topic or your statement. We must also rate those responses who are against the statement that we made in the discussion as they might have the reasons why they are against our views. If we go on pressing "+" for all those who have responded to our discussion, then we are losing the purpose of rating.

I believe it wouldn't hurt to rate positive all the time especially to those whom you find are good or quality responses. I usually give positive rating if I see that the post has been given effort to the best he/she can. If it interests you then give it a fair rating that you see would fit. I haven't yet read anything bad about rating positively all the time.

I see nothing wrong with it as you are rating the discussion. I would think that if the administration did not want us to use it then they would not have added that option for us. I tend to use the one when people respond back to my discussions more than I do the one at the discussion itself. However, I might try to use it more as I think that as a writer it is important to know that others like our discussions.

catof1 I do that too as my lot admins has asked u s to rate all everytime we post and I continue t o do so hoping it will help us all to rise up our stars and get better reps and also make better earnings too.No I think you are doing exactly as mylot asks you to do as is in the guidelines so keep up the good work.

huh I did not know this would help our star. I guess that makes sense; the more you participate the more you get from Mylot and not just the money.

No, don't worry. In fact it's encouraged to press it everytime we feel that the discussion is interesting or good in some way. However we also shouldn't abuse it too, especially the - sign. Last time, I didn't really press the + sign but now, when I see interesting discussions, I press it immediately. What good it does is that it helps to raise the discussion starter's ratings here in Mylot and it also helps to acknowledge the fact that the discussion starter has good discussions

I agree with you and I try to keep an open mind when rating too. Just becuase the person may not agree with me does not make them bad or deserving of - or ! unless they are just being mean.

I think it's a positive thing to do; it's a simple way of demonstrating your appreciation for a comment or discussion and it doesn't harm anyone so why not? birdie -

I don't think it's bad, as the reason it is there is to rate people positively, for discussions that you 'like'. But I think I read somewhere here that there is also a limit on the number of positive ratings you can give out. So, it might not be fair for those really good discussions but you just saw late in the day, and you've already reached the limit.

Ever since I realised where these buttons where for, I do use them a lot. I have never rated negative yet. Just the ones I think gave a well overthought response to whatever discussion. I agree these buttons where placed with a reason. So why not use them? It is a good system, offcourse there are abusers but well they will not likely use the+. I would say rate away and let people know you appreciate their answer, remark!

Great minds think alike it seems. That old addage applied here I would say. Thank you and I agree with you. I really like to read the content a couple of time befores rating too. And for those who abuse, they get caught too they have too since it is tracked.

if you do like the opinion is a good thing to rank it good, i do that also no matter who respond or start a conversation, i judge the content.

I think there's nothing wrong if you press the + sign it just indicate that you appreciate the response, and I think mylot also see no wrong if you do that.

No it is a good thing. Never press the - sign unless you feel a mylot rule has been broken or what you are reading is so terrible you want the writer to be thrown off of mylot. Not that it will happen but it is not a good thing to do. Now if you just disagree with what someone says that is what discussions are for, lots of folks with different point of view.

I agree with you; I avoid such topics as I really do not want to argue with people I have enough of that in my life ya know? I have only had to use the - sign a couple of times and it was due to the person being rude beyond words, not me being sensitive or on my discussion but on anothers. I just think they were being mean.

I don’t think it is bad when we press +sign button on mylot when we giving to response to any discussions or comment on any discussions responses. I think if we do this then it also makes effects on our rating. So I always do this and try to always give + Rating to any response and discussions.

this is from carmel in the posts number three. Said it very well. "I do too and it isn't bad,it is good for you and the person you are rating. No, you don't earn by rating someone positive, but it is a lot better than rating them negative, which can affect your rating as well..I rarely rate negative, and if someone is doing something like spamming posts, then instead of the - sign, I report it instead.." So the person you rate is getting the money not you, but the favor will be returned. I don't mind this much my self as long as their is good content.

Hmm, pressing the plus sign looks fun! I think I'll start doing it too.... =) I guess if you posted on a discussion it's more than likely that you liked it, so why not rate it so.

it just shows that you like many of the discussions and the comments.nothing is wrong with that.... do what you feel you want to do! if you like a comment and you feel you want to reward it with a + then you are real. we must feel free here and be real.
