It isn't safe to dye ones' hair.

People have been changing the color of their hair for at least 3,000 years. Today many people, especially women, dye their hair or a regular basis, and the manufacturing of dye has become a standard to a great extent. Since many dyes contain potentially dangerous chemicals--among substances that are highly irritating to the skin and eyes--it pays to follow the experts advice scrupulously.

I always wondered if hair dying had long term negative consequences. I have heard both that it does and it doesn't. I have never dyed my hair, but have frosted (highlights) many years.
It makes sense that a chemical routinely applied so close to your scalp could eventually cause harm. However, I also wonder about those fumes from permanents and nails polishing etc...It's bad enough for customers, but employees are probably at a greater risk.

I have long, black, shiny and thick hair, but sometimes I feel tempted into dyeing my hair and never got tempted. Many of my friends dye their hair and it ruined them. Maybe unless the hair uses the best treatments and products and all those very costly care like celebrities do then can dyed hair remain safe from damage.
