Yes , give me a late card but I didn't study her work in school . I only knew her name until I saw Sylvia. Wow! I just purchased her collected poems. Who are the others? Well After seing The Doors I got Jim Morrison's poetry.Henry And June Got me into Both Henry Miller and Anais Nin. And Really got into Dorothy Parker by seeing Dorothy Parker And The Vicious Round Table. So how about you ? Have you seen a bio pic about and artist or writer that made you Have to see or own their work? And if so Who was the artist?

It is called Sylvia. It stars Gwyneth Platrow and Daniel Craig , with black hair, plays her husband!

I don't know if this counts, but there were a few biopics that got me interested about the author, or at least the subject.
First thing that comes to mind is Leo DeCaprio's story of Frank Abagnale, Catch me if you can.
And then there are the Ludlum movies that made me crazy about reading all his mystery novels.

That counts! Any film that makes you yearn to learn more.

Okay...can't remember his name but we get alot of emails about things he says...anyway I bought his book of poetry called Sitting in Cheap seats...it was pretty good. I have bought alot of biographies of famous people...like Katherine Hepburn....Lauren Bacall...I like the older stars.

To answer your exact question I would have to say no. But what I have found is that when I’ve watched a Bio Pic which I’ve got into I’ve gone on to read the biographies of the focus of the movie. So after watching The Aviator I ended up reading a couple of books on Howard Hughes. I did the same with Glenn Miller after watching The Glenn Miller Story and to be honest I could go on because my book shelves are littered with biographies which I have got from watching a bio pic.

I can't think of anyone right now, but many times books and movies have inspired me to learn more about people. Great discussion topic!
