Now, we could really be proud because our dragon boat players have bagged 5 gold medals in the Dragon Boat race that was done abroad just very recently. They are all Filipinos.
And to think that some of them are fishermen by occupation. It was said that sometimes , they would even dive for clams to have them as their viand in their practice, because their funding is depleted.
I hope and pray with their triumph, the government , some big corporations and moneyed persons could donate some needed funds for the future practices of these dragon boat players.

Yes it's really sad that the government agency that is supposed to help, withdrew their support or any help due them. They were not even recognized by the PSC but they have proved to them that they really have the capability which they have proven in their previous feat when they won two years ago if I am right.Kudos for the Dragon warriors and to the Filipino people.

Yeah, what a pity. After giving our country honor and be recognized worldwide, still the PSC is firmed in their decision not to recognized the team.I hope Pnoy as our President at least acknowledged the teams effort for bringing our country honor
.

I hope so too. At least it could uplift the players' morale in one way or another. And it's high time that they be accorded honor too.

At the news today, it seems that the Dragon Players cannot expect a grand welcome from the PSC, after having withdrewn their support. Luckily, Kiko Pangilinan as well as ABS CBN staff seemed to be preparing a grand welcome for them instead.

its a sad story behind this dragonboat team
First they are disbanded by POC
POC made a new dragonboat team from kayaking team which is unfortunate not their forte ...Why do they disband the existing dragonboat team? given that the existing dragonboat team has already its history of winning streaks...its quite a very politically motivated moved
the old dragonboat team regroup, ask sponsorship from companies to bring themselves to the Intl Dragonboat competition in US. Big thanks to PAL to sponsor 2way free ticket.
The dragonboat team won 5golds and 2silver
POC will be havin a press conference para maghugas ng kamay
Our athletes suffers insufficient or no fund at all and yet still able to give glory for the country

Oh is that so? So you see, despite their hardships of being disbanded and regrouping again, they triumphed in getting the 5 gold medals.
Perhaps, the group should specially mention PAL for sponsoring their two -way tickets.
I can't way to see how they would be praised when they come back to the Philippines. I just hope they could be given a grand welcome too.

there are many companies who sponsored the the dragonboat team but I only remember PAL coz they can able to US without the sponsorship c",)
its now a matter now of wait and see how will the POC will ride on thier victory and revoke their disband and revert back as the Philippine Dragonboat Team

That's true. If the Dragon Boat Team is being helped all the way by the government, they could have done even better.

It really great news. It is also unexpected for me because dragon boat racing is not that well known sport in the Philippines. 5 golds, wow! that's a lot. I hope they will get credit for their efforts. But the sad things is maybe they will get praised and get all the hype but in a few weeks or so they may be very well be old news. I hope it does not happen. Maybe they will become as popular like the Azkals. The government should help them and all the athletes because there are lots of great talents out there that are going to waste because they lack funding.

Correct! I hope that won't happen to them.
The government should now include in the National budget a big funding also for the athletes specially those who competes internationally.

Yes, we should be proud of this team. They really work hard, from scratch to something to be proud of now. It just sad to know that they don't have support from any group or even the government. But with their triumphant now, I bet there'll be lots of offers for them and I know help for them will overflow soon.

Sad to note though, that here in the Philippines, support comes after a group has proven that they have what it takes to be supported. I just hope this attitude will be changed.

The dragon boat team is one of the philippine's pride. They should be praised for their hardships and the government should implement support to these athletes.

Well, this kind of sport was started by the Chinese. Recently, a dragon boat competition was held at Tampa Bay, Florida USA. That's where our Filipino dragon boat players got their 5 gold medals.
