Things have been pretty much complicated at work. It is getting into my nerves even. I am the type of person where i wanted to be known and notice for my work. That is why when i work - i really work soooo hard, to the best of my ability. Just two weeks ago, my cousin who works in the same company but different department approached me and talked to me in private. She said things to "warn" me saying i should be careful because all eyes are in our department ( our department brings more money lol) she said that there might be changes or people might get terminated saying employees in our department are a bit hard headed ( which i disagree but didnt tell her so) and she said i am not on the list but it would be better if i LEARN HOW TO BE WITH PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP ME ADVANCE MORE, People who might not be TRUE but atleast keep me in the position or make me higher. I was disturbed on this one. Because she even said that i would rather stay away from my officemates and be with those other staff that are close the the big boss. Hmmmm major HHHMMMMMMMMMMM because i am not one who kiss as* and be with people who are "plastic" I am in a dilemma regarding this actually because just last monday, my cousin approached me again because she was FREAKIN mad at me!! WHY? because i was absent ( i went on a semi vacation with hubby) and she told me why was i absent and she told me how could i absent myself and it would affect my position and her as well. Because she heard i received an AWOL memo and it would ruin her too! I was like open mouthed and dumb founded. But i told her that i did not receive such memo and that i do not care at all. Because i know i deserve that break and i know i am doing well with work. It was crazy, mom said she might just be concerned but it was not right. She does not have the right to tell me how to decide in this office. Sorry for the very long rant but i need to get it out. lol. Are you one who kiss your boss' as*??? COz i am not! I am seriously considering resigning.

Sounds like your cousin should be watching her position instead of putting fear in you. If you followed protocol for taking the day off no worries it just goes to show how rumors start. Getting close to a boss to learn more does not have to be done in a matter that is kissing butt even if those who are jealous see it that way. When you do a good job you will be recognized. My experience is that those who were kissing butt did it so well they were not getting their job done. There are leaders who recognize those types of employees because the leadership skill does not exist in that type of manager who just likes having people around that make him/her feel great. The good news is that a real supervisor with good management and leadership skills has the welfare of the company in mind and is looking for good employees such as yourself. If you are really concerned that you are going to lose your job start job seeking don't be vulnerable.

well if you can afford to look for another job, thats good. lucky you. does your cousin have that option? why would she think shes responsible for your actions? it doesnt make sense. ask her why? perhaps shes jealous.

Hello Jazel, That is pride and good. It supposed to be that way, that the Boss should recognize the person by it's skills and by not how close the person to the boss, it's pretty bias. I don't know what she is doing out there but I strongly believe she's getting the wrong info and giving a bad example to you. It's better off resigning rather than being in debt to some by staying on the Job.

AWOL? Why haven't you asked a formal request for a leave of absence? Well, if you are always anxious of what will really happen in that company, i guess it's time that you find a job that can really make you happy. But meantime stay on that job . It's hard to find jobs nowadays. Just be careful in dealing with your co-employees. Just be nice to everybody and don't be a sycophant, because it might compromise you in the end.
