The saying goes thus, most of the sweet songs are embellishments of sorrow or dejection. This might perhaps be of the contextual constraint wherein sad feelings add real fervor to musical renderings. Most of the sad things fill up the void paving the way for true depiction human activities. Though one would rejoice in plenty with songs of merriment, there is little scope for fancifulness with regard to songs portraying sad thoughts. Moreover most sad songs are remembered and sung for longer years to come.

Hmm. Maybe true, but I don't think it's entirely the fact. I mean, yes some sweet songs express sadness arbitrarily, but it's not always the case. Sometimes sweet songs are meant to make the listener feel happy or reminisce about the happy moments of their beloved. It depends, whether the listener's currently at bliss or emotional.

I like music and I listened to songs according to what I feel, like if I'm happy I listened to those songs that light to hear with happy melody, and when I'm sad I listen to those I can relate to, those music that more emotional, and yes I noticed that those songs that are sweet and more emotional are just talking about pain and sorrow. and most of them are already old songs, which until now is still play on radio stations.

There are old tunes I recall from years gone by. Like Laura by Dickie Lee and Ode to Billy Joe. All tell a sort of story and it is sad but realistic. And one that comes to mind too is There'll Be Sad Songs. I am sure if you go to a search engine it will bring up the singer too, I just can't think of their names right now.

Hi sukumar! You have made a very good point. For some reason people seem to identify with "sad songs" more often and they do seem to become more popular and are remembered for years to come. I think that sometimes the sadder they are the more they touch our souls and our hearts. When we are going through difficult situations alot of us turn to music, at least I know that I do. Sometimes I listen to clear my mind or to let my "feelings out" and sad songs, as you say portray our feelings, especially when we're feeling badly. I know that it doesn't always make sense since we should probably be listening to music to cheer us up, but when we have relationship issues, or lose a loved one sad songs seem to be the way people "express" their feelings. That's why there are so many "classic" old songs that seem to have been around "forever". They just seem to go along with the "healing process".

Sweet and old songs never fade away. They are more meaningful than today's songs..

I find those statements to be so true. Take for example Crystal Gales, If You Ever Change Your Mind" and "You Never Gave Up On Me" and Eydie Gorme's "It Takes Too Long", they all sound so sweet but they depict sad memories. They sound so sweet contrary to the lyrics.

I try to not listen to any sad songs because they make me sad. So I surround myself with happy songs thus feeling happy!
