Guys, has anyone of you have tasted dragon fruit? I have seen it some weeks ago tackled by Jessica Soho and today at Magandang Umaga, they showed a chef's concoctions of different styles of making use of dragon fruit as main ingredient. Makes me more so curious and agog to taste a dragon fruit. it was said to have lots of nutrients. But i wonder how does it taste ? Seems delicious.

Here in Bukidnon, we have a lot of dragon fruits. Unfortunately, I haven't tasted one. I heard that it has a lot of health benefits. It can cure cancer, diabetes, and the like. It's also rich in antioxidants and it can help skin become whiter.

Because it's much popular in Luzon. When we found out that it has a lot of benefits, we hurriedly search for those stores whose selling the fruit. Unfortunately, it's sold out. We bought one in SM yesterday and I'm going to taste it later. I'm excited!

Yes, I have tasted dragon fruits. I am from Malaybalay, Bukidnon in the northern part of Mindanao and we are lucky that there is a plantation of this fruit here. It is delicious and sweet. There are small seeds that you can eat and it's crunchy. Every time I see some dragon fruit for sale on the fruit stand I make it a point to buy some because it is said to be nutritious as well.

Lucky you, because the plantation is in your place. So how much is the cost per piece of the dragonfruit in your place. I think , the woman who have the plantation , interviewed by Jessica Soho was from that place.

Oh that is so costly! One of the previous respondents said it costs her PhP60.00 /piece. So, Swift has its own plantation too.

The fruit here is quite expensive, it costs 150 pesos per kilo. My mother told me that there are some dragon fruits available now at the fruit stands. The plantation of dragon fruits here in Bukidnon is owned by Swift.

You remind me something funny. My English friend might see this fruit at first time. And he asked me whether it is eatable since it seems this fruit comes from Mars for him. I told him that this fruit is safe and it is not poisonous. He may not get used to eat weird new food, I guess. This fruit is common here in summer. My friends like it and say it is good for the digestion and they eat it to lose the weight. This fruit tastes OK for me. It is not as juicy as the watermelon, so it is not my favorite type of fruit. I love China

Yes, the dragon fruit actually looks weird with all its thorns as i have seen on TV. Like what your English friend have said, it really seems that this fruit comes from Mars. So, it helps in losing weight? Hmm, that's good news.

Yes I have. I'm not from the Philippines though. But I can find lots of dragon fruits here in the local supermarkets in Indonesia. Apparently there are two major varieties here. One has white flesh and the price is cheaper. The other has a reddish flesh and taste sweeter. It is also more expensive. I don't know if it is true or if it's just a effort to sell the fruit but according to an article I read on the web they supposedly prevent you from developing colon cancer.

Really? How does it taste? Like what fruit can you compare how it taste? Actually, the one who had a plantation of this fruit , first got it from Indonesia i think. Then, she propagated it and introduced it to the Philippines. Now, it's becoming famous and she's becoming a millionaire because of her produce. Yes, it was said that it could prevent colon cancer among others.

It is difficult to try to describe the taste of the fruit in words. I can't really think of any fruit to compare it with. The best way for you is to get it find out for yourself how it tastes.

I have and it's one of my favorite fruits :D Most dragon fruits are tasteless (or sometimes, not that sweet at all) but there are those redder and sweeter and they costs a bit more :) I love eating dragon fruits with honey or sugar XD The first time I saw dragon fruit, it seems like an exotic fruit of some sort :P LOL! SM supermarkets are currently selling sliced dragon fruits so if you want to try it, you can buy the sliced/prepared ones :D

Good for you because you are metropolis. We are in the province, but we do have a Save More supermarket here. I would go to it one of these days and see if they have that dragon fruit. So, i have to look for the redder one. It looks exotic really, as i saw it on TV. Looks like the a dragon having their thorns.

Dragon fruit is delicious. You should try it sometime. It is readily available in the fruit bar section of savemore supermarkets or hypermart, where they sell it already sliced. If you are far from the metro, find some time to drop by supermarkets if you visit a city.

Im sorry I'm not updated with the prices. I was able to taste it a couple of times (the sliced ones) at Save More salad bar with other fruits, though I know the salad would cost 130/kilo your choice of fruits. I put more dragon fruit on my salad.

In India the prices of dragon fruits are golden because they are imported. One medium piece would cost around Rs200+ or equivalent to $4.54. The color of it is green( bark portion and reddish pink (body) and it was really a unique fruit. If you slice it open, the flesh is white with small black seeds in it like kiwi but smaller seeds of that. It does not taste too sweet nor it tastes too sour. It is in between and it is not that mushy when you bite it. It is not also that juicy and sweet smelling compared to watermelon or cantaloupe. But they say it is rich in antioxidant. I first tasted it when mom bought it in the grocery because she first tasted it when she took a vacation in Hongkong.

I guess, it costs more here in the Philippines also. It is actually imported from Indonesia or some Asian country by a businesswoman here in the Philippines. She planted some and that begun her plantation of it. Now, she's becoming a millionaire. She was interviewed on TV and showed all food products with dragon fruit as main ingredient. That stirred my interest and appetite for the fruit.

Hi! I am from the Philippines too and I first got to taste Dragon fruit when I went to Vietnam last Nov 2009. It is one of the more popular fruits there and I even saw a sort of dragon fruit monument in one of the restos we dined in. I was not able to watch the Jessica Soho video because I rarely watch the local channels nowadays. The taste is really difficult to describe; it is a bit bland for me, but I can say that I enjoyed its juiciness. The texture is smooth like a melon, and the flesh is white specked with the tiny black seeds. Yes, I heard that it has a lot of nutritional value. Guess it's time we should eat up!

Actually no, this is the first I have ever heard of this dragon fruit. I will have to luck it up? Is it all natural, what types of nutrients does it contain? I am always looking for new things to try.

I actually forgot what the nutrients are, but vitamin C is one of them . It is also an anti-oxidant and helps to prevent cancer. How i wish it could reach our province already, so i could have one also.

Yes, I found some here at Luzon. In one of the Duty Free Shops here, they sell fresh fruit salad where you could choose your favorite fruits, mixed it and put syrup. It is very good tasting and healthy.

I ate dragon fruit. It looks like fruit no from this planet so pink and white with black dots inside. I really liked it. But if someone asks me how it taste like or how similar to other fruit taste like I can't say because I have never eat something similar. So you have to try for yourself.

Actually, dragon fruit in the Philippines. emanated from other Asian country as was shown in TV. So it's not really a common fruit here. Really , it has no comparison when it comes to other fruit? The more that i want to eat a dragon fruit. Unfortunately, there are no dragon fruits here in our place.

I have eaten dragon fruits when I was in Bukidnon and had bought some also in Cagayan de Oro at a Limketkai fruit stand. It was P60/pc for a medium size. The outside covering of the fruit looked like a Torch Flower and the meat had a magenta color and tasted like a gelatin with very fine multiple black seeds. I tried to plant the seeds and successfully grew like guava seedlings but unfortunately they didn't survive due to the climate in our place. What i know, they usually abound in areas with cooler climate. Last December, I have asked someone who is from Bukidnon to buy several pieces for me but came late because the fruits had been harvested already for export which demand higher prices than sold locally.

Lucky you to have tasted one already! PhP60.00 /piece is a bit costly, but considering that it is not an indigenous fruit here in the Philippines, it is understandable. I would pay for that price too, if ever that would be made available here in our province too, just so that i could taste it.
