Tottenham Riots - How can people justify this!

I dont know if you have been keeping up with the news in the Uk about the tottenham riots, Apparently a guy was shot dead by police for no reason.... Personally I feel that armed response tend to be called out only when there is a danger to police or the public and do not just drive about shooting randoms but thats not really what this is about.
I was having a conversation with my sister, mum and their friend and all of them were laughing about how they should of been there to get a TV or computer and I was completely shocked and disgusted, is this what the people are thinking that are participating in these riots? is it not at all about the guy who is dead but more about hell lets get in there while we can.
I mean the police do not own any of the countless shops both company and individual that have been destroyed or looted, personal cars that have been torched do not belong to the police? so what is the point in doing it? in no way am I saying they should start attacking police what I am saying is like the student protests this is another prime example of people highjacking a peaceful protest to have a laugh, steal stuff and have a fisty cuff with police.
Is this what society has turned into? I have always joked about leaving the UK as more laws and regulations come in that restricts and confines the ability to maintain law, order and justice but I am seriously considering it now.
I have looked into what it takes to be a MP or start a political party to try and make a difference BUT they cant do anything because they dont want to loose the huge amount of votes that these "hooligans" hold and the polices of the EU and there effect on UK policy - for example we cannot limit immigration below a certain level dictated by Brussels or having to pay huge sums of money to bail out corrupt and incompetent governments who even when they know what they have to do to make a positive change, everyone riots because they want something for nothing I.E Greece.
I am very sorry for the inconstancy of my post - It is more a rant than a intellectual discussion.

As I live in London we read newspapers and watched news. This is really horrible. But I can't understand why the police allow the hooligans to take over the Tottenham area? They burnt few shops and stolen from them. They destroyed many cars and put many lives at risk. If they wanted to protest they could do it in peaceful way. Now some areas of Tottenham looks like after war. Violence can't be justify!
