Lithium used for more than bi-polar

Did you know that lithium is NOT just used for bi-polar patients? There are many people (especialy where there is little lithium in their diet and where they live) are low on this vital salt. It helps for depression, not just bi-polar type either. It helps protect your brain for alzheimers and dementia, helps those with overactive thyroid issues and so forth. I can go on for days about what I know about this medication. What are the thing you know about it? Is it scary to you and do you find that it unrightly has a stigma attached to it?
