Hey guys, with the conclusion of the Harry Potter series and with the start of my thesis, well actually, I'm in the middle of it, I would like to ask a few questions regarding friendships in the realm of Harry Potter. Actually, this is only one of the literary text that I'm analyzing. I'm doing research on Gender Communication of Bromance as reflected on selected literature and film. You see, I'm trying to bring structure to bromance and in order for me to do that I need to consult your opinions on it. By structure, I mean the factors and faculties involved in it that help define its nature. My question is, seeing that Harry and Ron are best friends, is being "best friends" automatically set you off in a bromance? Why or why not? Now, I know some of you have noticed how James Potter's friendship run deep with Sirius Black. Could this be a bromance? I mean, isn't this friendship like that of Harry and Ron's? Why or why not? Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to your opinions on the matter. I'll put all your comments on my thesis and quote and source them accordingly.

well Harry and Rob definetly had a bromance. All the things that they went through and the things they saw, the had to have had something there. From the first moment they sat together on the Hogwarts Expess, bam something happened. I think the friendship bloomed and blossomed partly due to James' relationship with Sirius. Harry must have known from Sirius the strong bond his father and god-father had, so he possibly might have wanted to recreate that friendship with Ron.

That doesn't work: Harry had absolutely no idea Sirius was his godfather or even knew his father until much later, when he was already close friends with Ron.

I dont if this will help, but my husband has six elder sisters. His childhood er overflowed with girls, so he is sort of closer to his male friends even now. He does not throw a peeping tom look at any woman which is good for me of course as his wife, hee hee.
