I've recently started to dig into social media, and find different ways to make money from the traffic these social sites receive. Today was the first day I started to see some success. First of all, take a look at the screenshot included in this post or see it here: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7642/kpkivgsb.png. Yes, that's almost 6000 visitors in a single day to one of my websites. And all this was achieved using the power of viral marketing. Note that the site is only 3 days old and this is only free traffic, I didn't pay a penny for it. And the quality is very high, and it is still growing very fast.
So considering the success of the strategy I was using, I thought to share it here in hope that anyone who reads this post could take benefit from it.
The sites from where I got all these visitors are Facebook and Twitter, the two biggest social sites on the internet. These two have a lot of viral power, so you just have to harness it.
So, in the first phase I created a short, 11 pages PDF report, which I could give away for free (people love freebies).
Then I've put up a landing page using WordPress with some promotional material on why those who visit the site should download the free guide.
After that I've installed a plugin called "Reward Button". It isn't free, but well worth the investment. Basically what it does is that it allows visitors to download your free guide only when they share your site on Facebook or Twitter. There's a free alternative to this plugin, which can be found here: http://cloudflood.com/ , and it works on any platform, so you can build your site on HTML or even on Blogger.
The final thing was to drive some traffic to the site to start the viral effect. People started sharing my site to download the guide, and so the traffic has increased very fast.
Sorry for the bad English, but I wrote this in a hurry, yet I hope you can figure out what I'm talking about :) , and I hope that I may help with this some fellow Mylotters to succeed online.
