So i recently went from unemployed to my first full time job. Its in retail and i have worked in retail once before for a seasonal position but never worked more then 4 hours except for black friday. I am super nervous and i was hoping someone could give me some tips or advice to help me get more confident about working full time.

I am out of work, so I can identify there. Some of the best advice I was ever given on any of my jobs is that I was to consider that the shoppers or customers were my invited guests and do the best I could to make sure it was a good visit. I predict that within a week you will find yourself relaxed and comfortable with all your new duties. If you have worked retail on a black Friday you have already done one of the hardest things there is to do. Oh, and congratulations, I hope you earn a lot and learn a lot as well.

aww thanks so much! i forgot to add in there i can have times where i have social anxiety so working in retail is one of the worst places to have social anxiety but i will try to stay relaxed and think them as guests and not scary shoppers trying to steal my store haha :)

I think that gardengerty and sid have given you some wonderful advice. I would say..be on time...be there everyday..and try to enjoy what you are doing. Along with the advice above, of course. Take care.

Smile...smile alot and be friendly. You will make mistakes no doubt..we all do. If you are friendly and appologetic to the customer when you do make a mistake then I have to say that most of them are very kind and forgiving. Being nice and friendly to the customers is the most important part of your job. Any other things are just technicalities and can be fixed and improved on in time.
