I read a big accident yesterday due to this bad habit using cell phone while driving. Three members are going on herohonda and suddenly a call is came on mobile of the men who was driving he received the call but not stop his bike and continued drive while talking on mobile and the 4 wheeler was crossing road but he was still busy in talking suddenly an accident took place. Now all 3 persons are in hospital in serious condition and Dr. said child could not live.
Really some people are taking advantage of mobile and some are taking disadvantage. People mostly misuse techniques things instead of using properly. Share your views how can control this type of activity.

In many countries it is now illegal to use a cell phone while driving. I am surprised that this is not the case in your country. It is also illegal in many countries to ride a motorbike without a helmet and to carry more than two people on a motorbike (unless it has a sidecar or other proper provision for more than two).
I don't know what country you are from (your profile doesn't say) but, since you mention Herohonda, I am guessing that you are from India and I believe that you must wear a helmet in that country but I don't know the laws about using cell phones while driving.

It is not just wrong. It's very, very wrong. Any activity that will divide the attention while driving should be avoided whether the law forbids it or not. In our country, it is common to see drivers doing this.I even see at one time, a man riding a motorcycle with no helmet, texting with the left hand while the motorcycle is moving at about 30km/hr. Basically, I don't care if these people defy the and take the risk associated with such conduct. If they get into accident, its because they want it and that would mean one less stubborn driver out of the road forever. However, the sad fact is it is not only their lives and limbs that they are putting at risk but also that of other people. It would have been much better if every accident scenario that happened because of it involved only the one who disregarded the basic safety rule, but that is not always the case.

Yes you are right in our country driver not drive the vehicle properly and street light system is also not good so mostly accident is occurred. 30 to 40 km speed is good but more than 40 is bad and controlling is also necessary. Due to small mistake the life may lost. Thanks for response

What a bad news! In fact I hope there will be a law to ban people to use the cellphone when they are driving. It is as serious as driving when you are drunk. As you can't focus to drive when you are talking in the cellphone. It is not only dangerous for yourself, but also others. If you really need to use the cellphone, at first you should stop the car.
I love China

It takes just simple self discipline to control the use of cell phone while driving. Of course the law that prohibits this activity is good but the law enforcers can't always spot the violators of course. So the drivers must discipline themselves for their own good. They should rather just turn off their cellphone while driving or better yet someone beside a driver must just take charge of the cellphone.

In Australia I think it is illegal to talk on your phone while driving, however you can use the phone on speaker or hands free. I think that soon, or they already have, they will make it illegal to do anything on the mobile phone because i think it is not banned to do other things on your phone( like gps, music etc...) other than texting and talking while holding the phone. You can not even stop the car and talk or text on the phone. The car has to be parked (legally) and switched off or the gearbox has to be on park and the handbrake has to be on if the engine is still running.
I think it is a good thing to ban using the mobile phone while drivingbecause of all the accidents that happen because of it. Also it becomes really frustrating when someone at a traffic light stops their car and starts using their phone and when the light turns green they dont go because they are too involved in their phone to realise that the lih=ght has turned green.
So in my opinion using a mobile phone while driving is wrong and can be an annouance for others.

That's really horrible to hear. I wish more people would listen to warning instead of just hearing it.
I hope all 3 people recover quickly and i hope there is a miracle for that child. It is illegal in my country to drive and txt or even talk on your mobile because it distracts your attention from the present situation when you need to be 100% alert whilst driving. No matter how many times you have driven the road or how good a driver you think you are.
I think people should pay more attention to the laws.

You are right the driver should punish but not 4 wheeler drive because the main mistake is mobile user driver. Really some action is necessary against such type of people.

I would say this is a very controversial issue and probably for good reason. It is just a known fact the some car accidents have been caused by the driver using a cell phone while driving the vehicle. But to say whether it is right or wrong or legal or should be illegal is another matter.
Not everyone can multi-task and so depending upon their own personal skills maybe should not try to use a cell phone while driving. Actually this is not as new an issue as many would think. Many businesses such as taxis, police, rescue, and most companies that employ several vehicles for the purpose of residential services have used some type of communication device for their employees to uses while on the road.
I myself used to install satellite dishes for Dish Network and DirectTv and had anywhere from 3 to 6 residential installs per day withing a 100 mile radius. I practically had to use the cell phone while driving to get directions and talk to dispatch otherwise to stop and do so would put me behind on my appointments and make me late for all the jobs for the whole day.
I think with the busy schedule our society has practically forced on us with technology and people wanting their services immediately it almost makes it a necessity for the working man on the go to use the cell phone while driving. I do however think it just common sense to keep it to a minimum and use speed dial and hands free headsets as much as possible. Also, if you are one of those people that just can't talk on the cell phone and still pay full attention to the road while driving then you should probably consider some alternatives.
As far as making it illegal, I don't know where the law stands at the moment on the issue but people are always going to do something to divert their attention while driving if only to mess with the radio or cd player which I am sure has cause many a car wreck also.

Depending on where you are, it's actually illegal to talk/text while behind the wheel. Not to say that some try to get away with it. It's for this reason there are applications out there that can help prevent accidents by disabeling the phone while the person is moving over a certain speed (detected by the phone). Now if you have Bluetooth, you can still answer calls, but again hands free device.
Now with the technology and laws out there it's only going to curb this problem. It's actually impossible to stop every person from using their phone while on the road. And, those who get caught (if it is actually illegal) usually only have to pay a fine for it. Which, in all honesty does little to stop people. No. Edcuation is the key I think.
Since technology is here to stay, and has been around for a couple thousand years at least. It's a proven fact it's here to stay. This being so. We must teach responsibility behind the wheel. Because believe it or not ANYTHING can be a distraction and cause an accident. NOT just cell phones. And, quite frankly I'm tired of hearing cell phones are the problem. Not to say in some cases it's actually true, but not in EVERY case. So if you put tougher restrictions on people trying to obtain a licence to drive, then you may have less accidents on the road. Not to say they will vanish completely... because as humans we're prone to error, but we can reduce it if there is a better understanding of the wheel, road and other drivers around that person.

We read it almost everyday in the news about people dying because of other people's negligence. It is always wrong to drive while using your phone. Those people who keep on doing this don't only put their lives in danger, but also innocent people's lives. I guess, unless it is an emergency call, we should not really use the phone while driving.

Hi there. Well in my point of view, using cellphone while driving is indeed a bad habit that each of us should know. When we are driving, we should be aware that we have a responsibility. In that case, he may forgot that he is still driving that is why that accident happened.
I think the government didn't lack to advice those motorist to avoid using cellular phones in the middle of their way home especially when they are driving.
I guess, sometimes technology though it can help our life more convenient and easy, it can also harm us if we don't know how to use it effectively.

Hi fantabulus, the ignorant had made a great mistake that he had neglected the most valuable thing is the safety of life. How great the fault he had done to the driver as well as the other passengers riding on the car that caused them injured seriously. He seems like a cruel murderer that killed the poor child
Here in my country vehicle users are not allowed to talk or text while riding on the road. Sadly many vehicle users still never follow the regulation and neglect the safety of other road users, and still indulge in using cellphone while riding on the road. I hope the authority will enforce the measure strictly to avoid undesired traffic accident.
Happy posting

Hi fantabulus, It's very true that no one should use a cell phone while driving. Some places have made it illegal and imposed stiff fines which does help some, yet education is the answer. Most people hear of accidents everyday, yet they don't think that it can happen to them. Blessings.

There is so much talk about cell phones being bad to use while driving and though I would not advocate breaking the law if it is against the law in your state I really don't see any problem with talking on a cell phone while driving if you are a careful person anyhow. I talk on the cell phone and drive all the time and if anything the person on the other end is the one that suffers because I'll pay more attention to driving, but many times I need information from someone and I have to have it that second so I can't wait till my next stop. But, that being said under no circumstances do I think people should text and drive that makes about as much sense as me propping my text book up against the steering wheel while driving.

I do believe that using a cell phone while driving should be banned. I have been in incidents where I have been cut off while driving due to other drivers using there cell phones. I'm scared to get into an accident. My husband has a cell phone for business purposes and sometimes he makes me nervous because he will get involved in a conversation and we have had some close calls for accidents. If an individual want to use their cell phone, then pull to the side of the road to make your call. Don't put other drivers or yourself in harms way, because your attention is on the conversation and not on your driving. As for the cell phone ban laws while driving, they should be extremely enforced with the police to catch thse people instead of looking the other way.

text driving is a big problem and cause of million deaths every here in the world. in some country there is no law for that, and people don't really aware of the danger or they just really don't care, that's why we have to be more careful on the road when driving, we are our own protector.

Here in the Philippines it is very illegal using your cell phone while driving, traffic enforcers here issues violation tickets to drivers who uses there cell phones while driving and if drivers continue there violation, they may have stiffer penalties. Driving while using a cell phone is prone to road accidents.
