Equals or not?

Hi there mylotters!
I am trying to understand the viewpoints of other poeple out there and what other people think about men and women being equal.
Do you believe that men and women are equal or do you still believe that women should stay home and cook and clean and look after the kids while men go and work and bring in the cash?
This is a fairly hot topic to be discussed so please keep your temper and allow others to explain their views!

This one is a tricky topic. In my opinion, the expression of equality can only be used if the cases presented are of comparable nature. That is where the problem lies in here. I do believe that both men and women are incomparable by nature and hence cannot be compared to each other due to a lot of differences in the factors that they have. Hence I believe that they are incomparable but can be compared only to some extent or factors which are comparable. I think you want to discuss regarding the social status of men and women. In my opinion, they can't be compared because both have their merits and demerits on the social status aspect of life. I really don't know. Just putting my two cents in here.

I agree with AgentGulaman that men and women are of incomparable nature that's why you can't tell if they are equal or not. Yes, God has created us with equal rights but of different features. Its like you are comparing apples with lemons. They are both healthy fruits but they bring you different benefits. In fact, men and women complement each other. Men can not live without women and same also for the other way around. In terms of their social roles, that has been modified a long time ago. Men and women now interchange their roles as long as they are happy doing it and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Good point, I agree with what you are saying about not being able to compare when we look at attributes of one and the other.
I think I am looking for an answer more geared towards the social understanding of Equality. Some people still believe in the past and the way the social views of women and men were portrayed in that time. Many men still believe that women are inferior to them and that women are weak and should stay home and pop out the children with a freshly baked cake in the other hand! Same goes for women who think they have no other place but to be at home cooking, cleaning and catering to every whim of their partner.
Sorry for not clearly stating which specific area I wanted to focus on but otherwise I have to agree with your points above. I just want to know what poeple believe today in the modern world we live in.

1. Woman and man will never be equal because man was first created by god.. (if u are religious)
2.Men think diffrently than woman they are smarter and more stronger... (I AM NOT SAYING THAT THERE ARE NO SMART OR STRONG WOMENS OUT THERE it just that they are rare)

there are things men can do that women will not to be able to do as well as men, but then there are things women do that men will not be as good at. there is nothing wrong with the man staying home and looking after kids and house work, long as everything gets done, and the family is happy who cares on who does what jobs etc.
I will change a car tyre faster and have even told my boss and work mate to leave me alone while changing the tyre. only thing i will get them to do is make sure the nuts are tight enough.

Everyone was born equal but each has their own specialty. Man and woman compliments each other, there are things that only guys can do and there are things that only women can do. This is why they were made to marry each other.
