What could be the reason?

I had a problem this week. I was hired as an article writer and so far I am paid every week by this client. Then I decided I want to have another client to have extra income. So I applied for those who post for article writer. I was contacted by a client from HK China. He said he would pay me after the 10 articles. I asked if he really pay and promise he would. After I finished the 10 articles, he was gone. He does not respond to the e-mail anymore. I know I did my best to write those articles. The first 2 I submit, he says are okay and told me to continue on doing the others, now Im done he did not respond anymore. Why do that kind of people exist? They only think of themselves.

Hi Averygirl, I would be wary if the client comes from Asian countries, such as India or China. They may even work as ghostwriters, but they do not have the ability to write articles. Once they cheated you of the content, they submitted those content to their employers, and get paid. Fortunately you have one very good client.

Oh I see, they will be hired and then fool others to write for them and then they will be paid. My other client is from Ireland so he is honest in paying me. Its sad these nationalities really have that bad image...

I agree, most of scams come from that countries, in freelance job sites, as soon as I found out the employer from that certain side of planet, i would look for their "payment reputation" first, gain more information.. and believe me most of them don't have any "good" reputation yet. I would ask for down payment and if they refuse to do so, i will drop it and go.. useless.. maybe not all of the employer like that, but I prefer to be more careful before I am wasting time for some scam projects. I guess we all learn from our lesson well... Wish you all the best for your next employment avery.

It is certainly a lesson for Averygirl! Fortunately it is not a very expensive lesson. I think Averygirl can upload the articles to some writing sites that pay page views, and earn from them. In this case, the loss is even lesser. Or better still, search online to see where the articles landed. Contact the webmaster directly, and explain about about the scam. If the webmaster is honest, then you will get another paying gig.

It seems like you were cheated by that client from HK China. So your hard work yield you nothing. How sad! At any rate at least you still have another legitimate and paying client. Just learn the good lesson from your bad experience. Next time around don't just trust. Maybe this is the reason why I am not accepting freelance article writing, I'm afraid I'd get scammed. In fact I admire you because you were able to find at least one legitimate client. I hope you get another one.

Yes, just a day after that I had a second client this time from the US. I hope he will pay after a week. He hired me together with another Filipino applicant. The two clients I have uses a platform where I can login and access the work everyday. Maybe that means they are more legitimate than those who just ask you to submit through e-mail. I should not trust anybody who asked for trial work and ask to write for words longer than 100 words.

Sorry for that but it should not deter your determination of finding another person who pays well for your work. Some people are just bad, uncaring and always thinks about themselves. I wrote a research article about plants for a certain guy whom I met in a certain site. The guy promised to pay $10 for the article if it met all the requirements. I did my best to provide a detailed article, fully satisfying and error free. I felt so sad because the article was rejected by this guy for no reason.. To add on that, I found my article on a certain site- word by word, only the title was different from mine. Too bad, he went away with it.

Omg! I have the same experience last year but I didn't realize (until now) that I have been scammed :(. I submitted 5 reviews, then he told me that my english was not good enough. But what makes me think now is that why would he let me write 3 more reviews if my english was not at par with his standard. But after submitting the last three reviews, I never heard from him. I just accepted the fact that he may not like the way I write. But now, I am going crazy, he might have use my reviews and got paid for it while I have nothing. Grrr... Moral Lesson: Make sure that the person is a reputable payor.

First of all I want to say I'm sorry for what happened to you avery... I know what means to squeeze your brain to get any ideas for writing articles because I also do this. This should be a lesson, but you can't actually do anything to avoid such things. In the future when somebody asks you to write so many articles try to ask for your payment after 3 or 4 articles max.

Hi averygirl Sorry to hear that. I think you were scammed by an untalented person who have the guts to steal a beautiful talent of yours that is to write. Be wary of those who pose as real persons in the internet. When things are too good to be true may be its not. Its hard to be a victim to these kind of people because I was in your place before too, though not in writing articles. Anyway continue what you love doing and never hesitate to write again. Good luck.

we meet all kinds of people online as well as in person. it is really sad that some people take advantage. you should be extra careful next time when dealing with people who promise to pay especially online where it is very difficult to contact them. they could easily ignore you once you've delivered to them what they required from you.

Oh dear i'm sorry to hear about your sad plight. That's why i'm really hesitant to do such things when someone would require me to write ten articles and they'll assess if it's good or not! Why isn't one article not enough? I always asked myself that. I always believe that one article will suffice for them to know whether i qualify or not. Never trust people online anymore especially those hiring for writers unless you have researched about their credibility.

It happens. I also had similar experience but slightly different. I got paid for seven articles I wrote. People ask for help thinking they will get some projects and sometimes these projects do not fructify. A small percentage may be interested in getting articles and post it in different forums and make money and not pay others. I suggest u continue with the first one who pays properly though u get less work.

Hi averygirl72.. Some individuals are just like that.. selfish and callous- not a care in the world to stand by their word or responsibility. I just hope he gets a taste of his own medicine one day, or say that his boss or whoever finds out its not his work and gets fired!! Ha Ha that will teach him.. (",)
