When I was you I seem to remember a lot of older people (and some young ones) having rocking chairs. I don't seem to see as many around these days. Do you know anyone that uses a rocking chair?

OMGGGG hey you just reminded me of the thing i always wanted when i was a kid!! I always always, and i cannot stress it enough, alwayss wanted to own a rocking chair. I had never seen one from up close and never sat on one but had seen some old people sit on them at their front yard and seen them in the movies too and i always wanted one. I asked mom for one so many times but i never got one But i dont know how i forgot about it and now, after maybe 12 years you reminded me of them again ;) thanks imma go and talk to mom about it lol and yes rocking chairs have vanished. I mean really i havent seen one for agaes, not even in the movies!!! but i do think it was a brilliant invention

You just reminded me that when I was young we got a rocking chair made for my young sister for her birthday, I think it was a very special present and I can't remember how we even got the idea as I think it was made by someone especially.

Rocking chairs have out-priced themselves! Furniture made from real wood is very rare today and very costly. Most furniture is now made from chip-board (rice husks or sugar cane waste) but rocking chairs need the strength that chip-board can't supply. There is no alternative to sturdy wood. Even tubular steel isn't strong enough for a rocker! I don't know anyone who has one.

Every furniture store around where I live still sells rocking chairs. I even know a self employed carpenter who specializes in rocking chair. I suppose in some places more modern alternatives are causing the rocking chair to go extinct, but this isn't the case in all areas. There are still some places where they are quite common. As think as long as we have senior citizens we will have rocking chairs. ;)
