What software is for designing a school newspaper to recommend?

I am responsible for layout and design of a school newspaper. So far it has been created using Word and then saved as a pdf file. It then occurred at the printers and over again on shifts. I would like to switch to Microsoft Publisher. Is this recommended? What other user-friendly software is easy to suggest otherwise?

the shifts must then already be in the PDF file available. that would be a problem of word. your print shop has a defective or PDF driver, but that is unlikely ... use instead, e.g., OpenOffice. professional tools that were already mentioned Indesign and QuarkXPress. microsoft publisher has not yet reached the dissemination of these tools, there is probably a reason - I would not use microsoft software anyway;) a free alternative would be even scribus. Latex is a student newspaper I think is not optimal, because it is relatively difficult to learn (it is not about a word processing program but rather a description language). on the other hand, if you have to study before it is anyway useful to learn latex. I was specifically advised of the profs at the time to write my thesis in latex. I now use OpenOffice almost did not (word anyway). if one has once learned the desired formatting can be reached with latex that is much easier. However, as mentioned, is probably for school newspapers a WYSIWYG tool like scribus better.

For bulletins, I used Adobe Indesign CS. Its practical but you need to learn it and it takes quite a while to master it. But I think you can always use Microsoft Publisher for this matter. Just use the template given or create your own. It saves you hundreds of dollar and also time in seeking software over the internet. Just give publisher a try since its pretty easy to use.

I use adobe indesign, layout program a classical, especially the interplay with the Photoshop image editing program is perfect. but also the extremely favorable coreldraw is actually not bad for something.

QuarkXPress and Adobe Pohotoshop are the best programs for design a newspaper . Photoshop is more advanced to use , while QuarkXpress is simple and yet you can do many things with it. They are expensive to buy , but as long you use it for school you can download it form a torrent site. Cheers
