A question about Girdle/ Bundle or bigkis, please clear this one for me

Do babies really need to be using a girdle or bundle (bigkis) on their belly button especially ages 0-6 months? Since I cannot find any girdles being sold here in India.
Second question, what do moms use to safely guard the belly button of newly born babies. Just a curious mommy to be that is why I ask this. Hope you can enlighten me about this.

Well my instinct was to leave it alone until it fell off and then be sensitive towards it with nice diapers and do not keep the belly button wet or dirty. My Dr just told me to roll down the diaper lower than the belly buttons. I hope this helps or and using a little of alchol dries it up and makes it heal faster.
