Your emotions can make you ill.

We are constantly reminded how our emotions can greatly affect our health especially the unpleasant ones. The reason for that many experts believe i that when a person is under great stress, the brain impairs the ability of the immune system to fight off illnesses. Therefore we should think in times of depression not to delve further but to take positive measures so it won't affect us as much as it should. Or we could divert our attention to doing things that can make us happy.

Emotions can make you sick. I had a verbally abusive aunt where everytime I was around her I was so stressed out and would cry and cry. As I got older I told her that I was ending out family relationship do not contact me anymore and honestly, I have felt better about myself and I don't have those fears that she would say mean things too me. Sometimes I would get sick and nervous whenever I had to see her. So yes I can see where your emotions can make you sick.

That is good for you and good for her. She doesn't need to do all those things. Besides, you are her niece. What is she thinking. It also happens to me. I sort of get this phobia from a person that I really loathe seeing. I tend to feel so irritated and nervous. Sometimes it is hard to deal with and I feel I just need to get that person out of my sight. I hope time will heal and that it will be over for you.

thetis: 100% correct. Excepting in fatal diseases in other diseases mind makes or mars. I keep myself busy like this only for that purpose. I should not have time to think about anything else.

It's important that we as humans allow our emotions to run their course. If you force yourself to be happy during a moment of depression, then this stress can also make you ill because you're trying to force your body to think and feel things it doesn't want too. Believe it or not depression is part of human emotion. Some suffer from it more than others, and for some it has a tighter grip on them. And, believe it or not you can't "force" yourself or anyone to be happy all of the time. Because it's not healthy to feel one emotion all of the time.
The key is knowing when one emotion is consuming you. Know when, where and how to get help. Talk to someone in a medical profession. You know your body. You know when something is or isn't right. So it's up to you to ensure that you take control of your health. If you don't, no one else will. However, believe it or not for someone who suffers from severe depression, they can't "make" it go away. Sure you can take control and fight it, but it'll always be a daily strugle.

That was very good. I am glad and I truly appreciate it. I do agree. I was also thinking about it. What if we try to be happy and we can't. And maybe we'll really have to know what is good for us or what is best to ward off these things on a day to day naturally without having to force ourselves because it will have no use after all. Thank you so much for sharing us this even deeper thoughts. It has contributed a lot to my discussion.

That is so true. When i was bothered by my sister's situation before i couldn't sleep well at all and i couldn't eat. So my husband told me that i should only think about him and our son now because they need me more than my sister does. That made me feel better.
Diverting our attention to something that can make us happy is the best way to keep us healthy.

The biggest problem is she doesn't have a husband and the man that she's with is a scumbag, a thief who keeps stealing her hard earned money, uneducated and most of all caused trouble to the whole family. And my sister happens to be a doctor! OH and did i forget to mention the most important fact that the man is married!

Oh that sounds really terrible for your sister. I don't know what to say. But for that problem I guess she is the only one who can save or help herself because only her decision whether she stays with the relationship or not can take all the problems away that is also affecting you. I am so sorry to hear that.

I always feel ill before important exams. And when I'm having a problem with my loved one. I strongly agree with you, but it's not the same for everyone.

Oh that is sad. But you should also try clearing your mind of the bad things that can affect your studies at least. At least maybe start by thinking that you have to set it aside for a while so you can concentrate. Just relax your mind from these things before it can even affect you more. Don't let anything or anyone give you a bad day just for that.

That is so True. Even with everything I am going thru Health wise, and having been in the Hospital, and then dealing with the wounds and trying to get them healed for me it has been trying to stay positive that seems to help me the most. I do know that when I can keep more positive I feel better and things go more my way as well.

Yes that is what you need to do. At least we are happy for you too knowing that you are handling things well. Just remember that you have the support of your family and your doctor and that even if we are not with you we will be here thinking of you and praying for the best to come. God bless you Dear Tina.

My daughter will get herself so worked up that she will make herself physically ill. i am trying to teach her ways to handle the emotions in a way that she does not cry until she pukes. I agree that when i am in a funk(I refuse to call myself depressed even if it is probably true) I tend to get colds more easily.

I have also learned that things like these can be prevented by just proper nutrition. I know how you feel. Must be so hard for a mother seeing her daughter like that. Increasing resistance from the inside can help. Natural supplements would be good. Vitamin C in the form of potassium ascorbate is good for resisting colds and stress. Fruits and vegetables are very good too. She shouldn't work so hard too if it is greatly affecting her. I know our jobs are important because we need money but if it harms our body because it is too much then it will be more costly.

Yea you are right. Our emotions can make us ill and affect our health and career. We must always be strong emotionally. We must not be happy for small reason and sad for very small reasons. We must have stable feeling. At the times of depressions, we must think positive about ourselves and do something that will make us forget it.

You can never get away with it because it will always be like that. Same with my partner. He is so used to getting angry when there is too much traffic and people not behaving properly on the road. I always remind him that what he keeps doing will only cause him stress. That he'll have to accept the fact that it is like that every time and that it always will be. The best thing is just accept it and just be calm because getting angry over these things that we can't do anything about will only cause harm in our body when you let the stress get into you every time. So just don't mind it my friend. You'll be fine. Just go over your daily routine like there are no people around annoying. Thank you also.

That is very true. I get so stressed out that I cannot talk. My ability to think and communicate is lost for a few minutes.

Don't worry. I think a few minutes is fine. Just don't loose it forever. Hehe. Just kidding. Just relax your mind because our brains get really tired too and that they need rest like the other parts of our body. Take a nap and things will be better when you wake up. Relaxing and taking a nap with some good music can do better.

You are correct. Too much stress on our brain leads to illness because our resistance power will be decreased by mental stress. That can be reduced by yoga and meditation.

That depends, I believe that the strong negative emotions can really be sick.
