Recently we have news about police officers who are involved in killings innocent people. And this is really a disgrace to the whole policemen they are the law enforces but they are also the law breaker. They were the authorities who will serve and protect the people but how could you trust them if they were the number one who is violators of the Law. I don't know but ever since I have this image in mind that policeman is corrupt and bad people. I have also this fear that everytime I see a policeman he would do something bad to me or he will ask me for money. Maybe because I've seen many incidents like that specially traffic officers. But I am not saying that all policeman is like that I still have some respect becuase they still the protector of peace in the country..What do you think of them?

I had some unlikely experience with policemen before. Bribery has always been associated with them. Though most of my relatives are working in the police force, I can say that only a small percentage are truly doing their deed. It is hard to accept sometimes that our protectors and keepers of peace and order are the ones who cause or force the people to break the law. I don't know if they are abusing their authority as law enforcers or is it just part of the chain of command. As of this moment, I no longer trust the police force. I hope someday they could regain the people's trust again.

I never liked the police. I never had a good experience with any of them. They don't have manners and they act like gods because of their authority. I just saw the news last night, 3 policemen were actually threatening an underage boy in a wake and drank the night away in a night club - on their uniform!

Police can always play the double role in our society, they can be a law enforcer in the public view and law breaker too behind the scene. So long as no one take notice of that, most of the modern day police will play the double character in today society. Most of the time, you can only see one side of the coin in broad daylight, but not the other dark side of a policeman.

No surprise. This happens because they are allowed to break laws and not face the same consequences as everyone else. It was only a matter of time.

Same here, back when I was still a kid, I always look at the policemen as corrupt. I've seen some of them are so harsh to common people. Some are so arrogant maybe because they have weapons with them all the time. But I know there are good and true to their service as a policemen out then.

Well, there are those who are law enforcers, there are those who are law breakers, and there are those who are both. It is the lamentable truth in our society not just in this country.

The station commander has a lot of influence on his subordinates. If you have a corrupt station commander then expect that who ever that's going to be assigned in that precinct will turn out to be corrupt sooner or later. It's basically a leadership by examples. Another factor is if the people who are victimized just let go of their violations and do nothing about it. That would send the wrong signal that they cant get away with any violations and would therefore continue to do so. So in part, the civilians are partly to blame on why there are corrupt police around.

My cousin is a police officer and I know him personally as a good man. Though I heard of bad cops and those who are lead ashtray, I believe there are still others who honor their oath and duty to the public. I know that their work is hard, sometimes the pay isn't enough and the public don't respect them or make fun of them but as stated in the first response, they are still human. They have families who care for them and I hope that my assumption that they don't want to be in trouble like any ordinary citizen. I haven't lose my respect for them but I do feel disgusted when some of the unseen others are being roasted for the actions of the few bad apples. We can't blame the public for the outrage but don't also hurt the people who try to live up in their uniforms, despite all the dirt in the system.

Yeah, it's true. It's a sad fact that there are some policemen who are rather questionable as to how they got that job, but then breaking laws and wouldn't really be called dependable. How can we feel safe now, if the ones who are supposed to protect us sometimes slack off and do nothing? But I'm against too much generalization of the police force. While it's true that some policemen aren't as good and trustworthy as they are supposed to be, there are still a lot of cops that we can trust and do their jobs well.

I still have trust in my law enforcers. We are all human therefore we are all imperfect. Policemen make mistakes too and just because a few of them didn't do the right thing doesn't necessarily mean they will all be that way. Though some have been very disappointing with their actions. There has been many news and court cases on policemen involving and rape and murder so I can understand why more and more people are losing trust in our protectors.
