Hello my dear mylotters. have you even been in a situation in which you have to make a lie but in a good cause? I mean you are commit a sin by saying a lie but then you have your own reason why you did that it is either you are defending someone or saving someone from a more big trouble.
Dis you experienced this one before? Can you share it to us here?

For a good cause, I won't think twice on telling white lies. I've lied several times to protect others but I don't think lying is good in any levels, whether it's a white lie or not. I still do think that we should always tell the truth no matter what the circumstances are because, one way or another, your lies are bound to surface.

That's a good point. Lying can be used for good but lying itself is still bad in my opinion. It can be in any form, white lies, deception, etc.. I still see it as a bad thing.

If you have a good intention why you lied, then I think it is what they call white lies. For me as long as I can protect the person that I love I wont think twice of telling a white lie. Have a nice day and happy my-lotting!

There is no specific definitions of what white lies is. But in my understanding, white lies is when you lied to a person so that you can protect other person so that things will not become worse.
Let me give you a simple scenario: One of your sister went home late because she go out with her friends. But unfortunately, when your parents arrived, your sister haven't arrived home yet. You know that when your parents discover what your sisiter did, they will get mad on her and worse they might not let your sister go out without chaperon again. So instead of telling them that your sister went out with her friends, you will just tell your parents that she is on her classmates house doing their project. LIE. But indeed you just love your sister that is why you tell your parents a white lie.

my understanding of lie is a statement that is false or a false statement (falsity). and based on your scenario given, i can see that it is still a lie. there's no difference. giving information which is false and it cannot be also a justification.
for me a lie is a lie, whether some called some lies as white lies it is still a lie.

Maybe I had done it before too. But I lie the only reason is that I want to protect myself. I didn't actually want to get myself in trouble. That doesn't count isn't it? It is for selfish reason. I also lie before to protect my friends and my brother too. The only reason is that I cooperate with their request, and trying to get them out of trouble too.

Well it is true that a lie is still a lie. Well it really depends on the reason why we did such but for me as long as you have a good reason for telling a lie that doesn't count because you only saved yourself or someone from trouble.

Oh, I've been in that situation loads of times. Sometimes a little white lie, sometimes I just leave out that particular information. There have been so many circumstances that I have to dish out a little white lie. Sometimes when something's going on in the office that I can't tell anyone about yet, I tell a little white lie about it. Or like the time that my mother was asking if I passed all my courses for the year and saying yes, when in reality I flunked two that was another white lie. My mom didn't find out anyway that I had to do the course over when we paid for my tuition. It's not healthy sometimes, and most of the time you don't even really need to do it. But I can only hope and pray that I don't get in trouble for it.

Indeed correct. We only do white lies if it is needed. As human being, it is our nature to make ways on how we can defend not only ourselves, but other people so that they cannot get into trouble. But we should also remember that white lies should not be use as an excuse especially in a situation which requires us to tell the truth.

one principle i learned;
be honest even if others are not
be honest even if others cannot and
be honest even if others will not.

if you think the person or persons is doing the right thing why tell lies? if it is for the good of other person why not telling the truth?

To save someones life I think is the best reason for a lie. In this case it would be the truth that's wrong.

Well there are very few times where many people consider lies to be acceptable. However that is really not to see that there is not some times where you can justify a lie being told, at least to a rather small extent to say the very least. There tend to be a lot of times where the truth can really hurt to a huge extent. Therefore we might not necessarily lie, but we are most certainly not telling the entire truth either.
I think that there are times where I might have not told a small detail or two and there is just one of those situations where there are going to be no winners. You can tell the truth and it would be bad. Or you can lie and it could really be bad in another way. There are just times where no one can win with anything. In the end however, arguments can be made but from where I am sitting, completely telling the truth might be the best course, as it does take a dedicated person to keep everything they have told straight.

Even if you have good intentions for saying these "white lies," still, isn't it better for you to tell a truth? I mean, come on. Those are still lies, right?

oh, i hate lies! i am trying to avoid any sort of lies, including white lies.
i realised that saying the truth in all cases is always better and makes people appreciate you more.
the only thing which can cause me to use white lies is when people are too nosy and asking too private questions. in this case it happened to me few times in my life to lie and it was just because i couldn't appreciate the person who was not polite to dare asking such questions...

it's a dilemma to most of us. however there was an instance in the bible that a woman lied to the soldiers of Israel to save the spy of Joshua (man of God).
i think it's just a matter of what our conscience is telling us. if you think that's the right thing to do for that particular circumstance, then do not hesitate of it. however, no matter what consequences (positive or negative) are as a result to your action, you will be the one responsible.
