Would you rather build? or buy?

If you are going to dream , dream big! I woould want to buy some land and build my dream house.

To build a house is my dream.I already buy a land and having discussion with my architecture engineer about the design. I am taking time for designing.As it will be my only one house,so it should be beautiful and unique one.

If only the price of land will get cheaper, then building own house is the best choice. But i doubt the price of land will ever go cheaper, since it is rising day by day. Building own house is great because you can built according to your preferred design. Besides that, you can built as much rooms as you like, when your land is large. But since the building materials is rising too, so it is still better to buy ready make house.

The house I am in now was built for me but it does not have all the bells and whistles that an older home might have. I have owned 7 houses over the years - one was even about 100 years old. Each one had its good points and bad points. I guess I would say I would rather buy a house that someone else owned as long a they took care of it and added in some nice things.

I would love to design and build my own house too. I have a dream house in my mind and know exactly ho and where things and rooms are supposed to be. Sighh if only I could have all the money, I'd build my dream house. That would be a dream come true but I'll work hard to make it to that dream

I want to build my own house. I have such unique ideas for what I want my house to look like and it's layout that I doubt there is a house around that could satisfy those wants and needs in my dream house. I like the idea of being able to have a house exactly the way I want it. The things I want can only be designed and built and another house that is already built probaly wouldn't make me happy. It's my dream to build my own house one day because I want something that is me and something that is mine!

In my home country land is expensive and not many parcels of building land are available. When one becomes available a builder usually buys it. Then he puts as many houses or apartments on it as possible. Near where I used to live there was some land and I wondered if it would be 1 house, 2 houses or 3 houses. No, it was many apartments and three floors high. I would rather build but it is not an option. I had my cottage when I was aged 19 t0 33 years old. Then I sold it and bought my house. I lived there from age 33 to 38 years old. Then I sold it and bought my bungalow. I have lived here since last year.

I am contented with the design of the house if it matches my taste. It is much easier to get a ready-built house.But if I had a land of mine, I would have it built by using one of the most beautiful designs of the houses that I like. It is a pity that it is very expensive to get a house now, let alone a plot of land of our own for building a house of our own. I wish I would have enough money for that dream house on my own land. I would love to make the designs for my own house, as that way you get to make your mind up where to put rooms, as well as how many and what size rooms to have.I am happy with the house that we are buying, as the rooms are the right size for us.I think that i would also like to design my own garden as well.

Hi jdex, I would build my own house given the chance. In fact the one I am living on now is the result of my own effort, with little help from friends, of course. I had no trouble in doing things given the right tools and materials. I do love doing things with my own hands really. My wish nowadays is to have a complete workshop equipped with a CNC machine, lathe, drill press, welding accessories, calipers, etc. I had designed a lot of blueprints on the board waiting to be made on the bench. When will I get them, its anybody's guess.

If i have the budget for my dream house, then i would definitely have my own design but of course with consultation to an architect , to know if some idea is feasible or not.

If I was like a billionaire, I would have a house built. But I am nowhere near that dream.

hi jdex, If ever I will have my own house in the future I will put my hands on it I mean is I want to be there from the day of construction till they finish it Of course I want to get an interior designer so I can consult what outcome I would like to have. happy mylotting

For me, i better choose the house that's already built which overall suit my personality, then for detail things inside the house i will do some small remodeling parts of the house.

Hi jdex! If I have the chance, I would also like to get involve in designing my own house. I would like to give my suggestions and comments since I will be the owner and I will be the one living in it. Buying a ready house is nice, too but it will be difficult to change some things or redecorate if I didn't like some designs or whatever. So to avoid that, I would like to be involve during construction and designing.

Honestly, I'm really not sure which I would rather do. I'm really not sure if I would rather build or buy. I think that it would have to depend on different things.

i also wished i have a hands on with my dream house. i dreamed of this design and architecture of my house. but whether it's a house to build or a ready to occupy, for now i have no money to get one.

Hi jdex: Being honest I think I prefer to buy it and of course choosing the best house for me, because I am not the kind of person that do everything by himself. I prefer to be good at the things that I have the skills and I am not the designer so for this case I give the chance to a real professional. ALVARO

If I could afford it, I'd definitely much rather be involved in the design of the house. A pre-designed house is much more convenient, but the fact is, it will never be exactly perfect - whether there's a room less than you want, or funny room shapes/sizes or some other issue, the chances are it won't be exactly right. If you're involved in the designing of the house you know exactly what you want/need, and what you don't ie swapping a spare bedroom for a study, or having a larger kitchen or an ensuite bathroom etc etc.

It would be nice to design our house. But since I am not an expert if I could afford it I would like to work with the architect and offer ideas that I want for my house. I'd really love it made than to buy a ready to occupy one. Then I could live in my own dream house according to my specifications.
