I observed lots of people has habit to do the study in train and some are reading the general books like magazines, news paper, GK book etc. I think those person are studied in the train to open their subject book or syllabus they not read properly because then cannot pay attention on it.
The same habit is of you to read books in the train is well but do the study in the train is really work. What you think they just show off that their study or really studying. Share your experience views.

Surekha: It depends on the distance one travels from home to office or college. When I use to travel 1 1/2 hour up and down -- during those days I use to read magazines, books while travelling. People in Mumbai, Poona they travel every day minimum 3 hours in train travel. so they use it for playing games, reading newspapers, magazines, books etc.
True, it causes a lot of strain to read while travelling. But if they do not read then they may not have time to read also. Apart from reading people spend time in sleeping while travelling.

Nowadays habit of reading books has come down very much. People spend time before internet only and under this context if a person reads or pretends to read book it is good -- at least books will be sold. I am a writer you know i will think in that angle only.
Thanks for your following my blog. Are u getting updates through mail?

I study while traveling on the train myself.............I think if you really like reading book, its not much of an effort, it makes the travel very comfortable and in my case fun!!!!!!!!!
although, if you don't like to read, its not that easy to read on a train......... ;-)

I think that will give more strain to your eyes.So one should not read any such type of books while they are travelling in bus or train.Yeah I know if it is a long journey then people prefer to read these things just to pass their time. But still its a very much bad habit. As the thing which you are reading is not kept at rest. Its jerking and you eyes doesn't concentrate effectively. Which in result give more strain to your eyes. I read books in train in very rare cases.Otherwise I always prefer to listen to songs or watch any type of movie and all.

Oh yes my dear friend as I am one to use my time wisely. I remember when I was going to college, being that I was a single mother. Studying was a bit difficult but I could rely on being on the train and catching up so to speak.
I did not leave it just for the train but found it useful for me too because I am not one to sit and stare around as using my time was very helpful for me.

When people are used to such habit, mind you they can focus on that very well. It's like they can block all the noise and all the people around them. I used to think that studying in the coffee shop won't work at all, but i've tried it when i was under pressure and couldn't find any place else to study and that made me focus.

I have learned how to study and block those noises out. I kind of had to. I live with three other people and don't get time alone everyday in order so that I can study alone. I have learned how to focus no matter what is going on around me or no matter what is being said around me. I have even learned how to babysit and study at the same time. I'm not saying I ignore the baby or kid, but I entertain them while I am study and don't ever study for a really long time when I am babysitting. A college student has to do what a college student has to do.

I would agree with you that heavy studing would be near impossible. Anyway we are all different people and maybe some can do it. aAS for me i just do lite reading at bus stops and public transit. Also they say its not good for the eyes to read whil in route. Because of the jiggling. If im reading something and my bus comes i will finish up the article then check out the scenery.

i have met many people who actually read books for fun and seriously study whilst riding the trains.
i dont think i doubted anyone to show off. i mean what will they get from showing off?
but to be honest, i was never fond of reading on the train because i dont think it is that good for the eyes.

But yes I do read books when i travel in the train. Reading their is really good for time pass. But surely reading study books their is really hard. I don't know about others but I never can concentrate their. I always used to read story books or magazines their.

Yea even i saw people reading books in the train. I don't think it is a bad habit, rather it is a good boring safe and at the same time gain knowledge. I really don't think that the one who are studying in the train are reading for their exams or for their studies. I think they are reading for time past and for fun as if it is long journey, it becomes very boring in the train.
Well, I saw some people opening their laptops and watching movies or playing games. Do you think this is a good idea? I usually sleep when I travel in train and also see the scenes. I always worries about my belongings, so i keep a sharp eye on it even at night.

Hehe I don't think they show off but are really studying I do read books or comics in train or bus too. That's coz sometimes there are books I can't wait to finish reading coz they are so exciting and other times it's just coz I'm bored.
But actually I have seen many kids do even their homeworks in trains. They have so many extra classes to attend so they have no time.

If they are able to focus so they learn or they remind them self what they have learnt earlier. Human brain got capacity to learn in very extreme conditions. Personally I can't focus on learning in the train as there is noise. But I'm able to learn while I listen to music and music helps me to focus on difficult tasks.

Studying in the train does not mean
they like to show off they're studying.
I think they just really have no time for studying.
If they were too busy the night before and they don't
have time to study then they'll study in the train
on the way to the classes. I study whenever I am on my way
to school and it works for me. I find it time-saving.

Some of them probably do try and show off. With that being said I am a college student. I have learned that time is valuable. I spend my time wisely. College is very time consuming but worth it. So I have learned how to be wise with my time. There have been times that I even had to multitask while babysitting. If I had to ride a train I would spend that time to study. The more you study the better your grades are. Those hours on the train could be a difference in a letter grade or allow that student to be able to have another hour of sleep or time to relax.

When I was a student I lived in the northern part of my country, my parents and my boyfriend lived in the south and whenever I wanted to visit them I had to spend several hours on the train. I always studied while I was travelling from one part of the country to another. In the beginning it was a little hard to concentrate because there was a lot of noise around me, but after a while it got easier. I guess I just learned to shut out the noise

I don't really like to study or read books on trains, cos I'll get motion sickness easily if I do that.

It's probably some of both. Some people like myself can get really focused when they begin to read. My boyfriend's family laughs at me because my boyfriend just bought me the ultimate nerdy girls dream toy. A Nook! I have downloaded so many free books on the thing and they can have people yelling and screaming and climbing over each other and I do not notice because I'm so in my book. Sometimes they laugh because they tried to talk to me for a whole hour and didn't get any response because I was reading. I love to read, though and I've been doing so since I was 4 and you just can't tear me away from a good book. Though the same is true for writing. When I used to keep my laptop over there because I didn't want my sister to steal it they would come in and try to talk to me while I was Mylotting and I just didn't hear them because I was in my own world.
So, maybe some of these people are just showing off. But, some of them could just be like me and legitimately reading because they can zone in. Usually when I zone at the Dr. Office or something like that I have found that because I'm waiting for my name to be called I do hear that. Though last week my boyfriend had to give me a good shove to hear my name at the Clinic. Lol

We do not know their reasons for doing this in a train. We cannot get into their brains. Probably, they want to refresh their minds about something they have studied at home so that they can do much better when they get to work or to school. Maybe, they had a lot to do at home that they could not finish reading or studying. When I take the plane or the bus or wait in line, one of the things I do to beat boredom is to read a book. It does not matter what others think about what I am doing as long as I do not violate other people's rights, like using the cell phone and talking in a loud voice. Have a nice and peaceful day, surekharathi.
