Should Ernie And Bert Be Married?

Philippines

An online petition has generated quite a buzz recently. It is the one calling for a wedding between Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie. Petitioner Lair Scott thinks that doing so will help promote tolerance for the kids. Well, the producers of the show responded that it won't happen simply because the two aren't really lovers. Your thoughts?

I may get stoned for this comment but I will say what I believe. I would not want my children to watch such crap. If it ever happened I would never let them watch the show. I know that in today's society we consider gay marriege acceptable or should I say that we consider gays to be sociable acceptable or an alternative lifestyle. I don't care how you dress it up or what you call it I still say it is wrong. Why do you ask, it is simple. In nature, the way we were created, we have males and females which mate and reproduce. A homosexial relationship is one in which they cannot reprocuce and is not natural.

Ok man, everyone's entitled to his own opinion. But really, what's moral to you might not be moral to others, and vice versa. But I agree on this bert and ernie thing. This is just ridiculous and utterly pointless.

Publicity stunt or extreme foolishness? It certainly has taken the media by storm. I suppose there must be a shortage of real people at the moment in the news. It's sad when puppets become headline news. Says a lot about the mentality of humans!

Some suggested, why not petition Oscar to be removed from the garbage can? Isn't he a poor fellow.

Personally, I think they do a great job of promoting a homosocial relationship already: two guys who live in the same house and are always together without having to be gay. That's just as important an image to reinforce, in my opinion. Having them marry would just be weird.

Yes, they have separate beds though, hehe. And I really think it's pointless to impose these ideas to kids. If they're after teaching tolerance, there has to be some other venue. Not puppet shows that teach ABC.

Aren't they related? I thought they were siblings. o__O My thoughts: People should try to make their own shows instead of trying to make producers change existing shows just to push their ideas.

Uh.... I honestly don't know what I could say (if anything) to that. The idea is just so... um... ammusing. If someone actually did have them become lovers, which I can argue is a remote possibility, then it would just prove how arss backwards our country really is. Then again our country is one big huge conterdiction in the first place. I mean they publically are against gay relationships (by not letting gays mery in every state) yet in some television shows gay relationships are considered comical. So when it comes to this country I shake my head and laugh at some of the idiotic things I see.
