Hello. I live in new Zealand and I really want to go to America for a year instead Of college once I finish high school. I've already been to la with my family so I was wondering what are some really great places to visit. Perhaps in the south? I'd really love to visit old plantations and any place with a beach is suited for me. So any ideas where I could go. I'd really like some help. Thanks.

South Carolina is really nice if you like beaches, and also want some mountain views. My husband and I really like Myrtle Beach. You could also surely find some old plantations in that area as well. Of course there is Florida as well if you like warmer weather. The Miami area has lots of beaches, there is also Disney World in Florida that you could visit too, but the nearest beach is a bit over and hour away from the Disney area. If you want to see the most beautiful mountain areas I recommend driving through Colorado just in to Utah, then keep on going and visit Las Vegas, there are no beaches there but it is a lot of fun. Of course it is more fun if you are 21 to go there.

St Augustine Fl, has just about everything you would like to see and is close to more. It is one of the most historical sites in the US and one of the Oldest if not the oldest city. The beaches just south of olde town are lovely and the streets outside of the touristy area are beautiful to walk. South of St. Augustine is Washington Oaks, a plantation that has been preserved with lovely gardens with an interesting beach across the highway called A1A. A1A runs down the east coast of Florida. There is a ferry boat that also can take you from the plantation to an old Fort that was one of the Forts associated with St Augustine and the surrounding area. An hour south is Daytona Beach. South of that is Kennedy Space Center where you can tour the buildings where the rockets are worked on and you can see a Space Shuttle up close. West of here of course is Orlando with all of the Disney attractions and Sea World etc.

Thanks for best response...Let me know if you head this way. I do not live too far from The Space Center. I grew up here and my Father worked at the Space Center in the early years. I have traveled nearly every inch of Fl. I know where two egg Fl is and I know where Hell Fl. is...

Hello. I come from England. I have enjoyed three trips to America in the past. I have been to California and Hawaii. I loved going to San Diego, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and San Francisco. I suggest you might like Florida and the Southern states like Carolina. Good luck choosing which places to visit.

If you're interested in the beach, I would recommend making your trip to Miami (Florida). It's possibly one of the nicest beaches in the US. Florida also has a lot of other attractions like themed amusement parks, beautiful natural settings like Everglades National Park, and other attractions like the Kennedy Space Center.

Thanks. I was thinking of Florida. I'd really live to visit disneyworld because I know my friend loves Harry potter. And the Kennedy space center sounds food. If my dad came to visit he'd love to see it. :-)
