Do you get online recipes to cook that way or to get inspired?

I can never follow a recipe. sometimes one or other thing is missing so I try to be creative, sometimes ended up creating a new thing that became part of the house's vegan menu.
Do you get recipes to follow or to get inspired?
Be careful if it's only to get inspired, sometimes I make a mess out of a recipe for being too creative.hahaha

Hello there! I cook a lot nowadays for I have a canteen business. I haven't tried cooking through the book. It is just recent that I had learned to cook most dishes and I learned it from the helper that I had. Since the business is slow during this month, I decided not to hire help till September. But I am hoping to learn many dish, not through the book anyway. I would like someone to teach me so that I can make no mistakes.

You must really love to cook!
I only cook now (unfortunately I hate to) because I became Vegan and I live in this hole where modernity didn't reach us so I can't find restaurants or vegan stores, so I cook at home and I became kind of good at it, not pro and not perfect, but compearing to what I was! Man! lololol
I admire cooking as a hobby or as a passion, I wish I had that in me but you know what? By doing something always and make it a routine it's funny how we become to like it a lot more.
Just the day before yesterday I made Vegan "ground meat" bread, it's made of soy and just like regular meat. And yesterday Vegan "custard" cream bread.
The weekend had a fun party of hot dogs here, all made of soy and so delicious, I don't miss or need real sausages at all.

I think that I am most like everyone else that responded: I look up recipes for inspiration and then alter to suit my own tastes or that of my family or to the number of ingredients I have on hand! I think it is all a matter of what appeals to you.
There are many recipes out there for say- oatmeal cookies...but many many many of them always have raisins in them.... I personally don't like raisins as they tend to be too sweet to me ( LOL ) So I alter the recipe.
Sometimes altering doesn't quite work out the way I plan it too but I knock it up to a learning experience.
Long ago many people simply threw ingredients together by 'sight' rather than by measuring- making changes with each time until they got it just right. At least that is how my grandmother used to cook. A pinch of this a palm of that, a dash of something else. And she was the absolute BEST cook! OMG! Biscuits to melt in your mouth.... the memories make me smile..

I hardly ever follow a recipe completely, unless it's something I'm totally unfamiliar with. Like others here, I look online sometimes to get inspiration or to find recipes with the ingredients I have, but I nearly always do something a little different. Sometimes I make dishes that I don't even know what to call them and at times I've made things that no one will eat!
It's more fun that way, though, and I'd hate to have to follow a recipe precisely every time I cooked.

Hi katie: I must be honest and confess that I seldom cook in my house but it's actually my little sister the one that is experimenting with her cook skills. She is really good, she have looked on the internet for a brownies recipe and they taste really yummy

Oh, I know what you mean! I always tend to make changes to recipes as well. Sometimes because I don't like some of the ingredients, and sometimes because I think something else would suit the recipe better. Usually it turns out pretty okay though, I have been cooking for years now, so I have a good feel for what I can and cannot do by now.
