Hello myLot members! I really need your suggestions especially for those moms out there. Well, my husband and I are expecting a baby girl this coming September. As a wife and soon to be mom, I don't have any idea on what kind of food should I give to my little angel when she's ready to take solid foods. Its a bit early to worry about this but I want to get ideas and learn how to prepare those baby foods so that when our baby arrived I know what to prepare for her. I don't cook even when I get married and needs a lot of practice. :) Ready made baby foods from groceries are fine but I'm looking for something that is home made. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello Poch3ng, Since you have not stated where you are from, its a bit diffuclt to give ideas because in every country people eat differently. But I am guessing you are from Asia, so I suggest that you start your baby on rice kanji once she is ready to start solid foods. This is what we do in India.
Rice kanji is prepared by boiling rice, for starters a spoonful is enough for a small infant, wash it and add a cup of water to it and boil until the rice is cooked well and the extra water is slightly thickened. To this water you add a little salt(less than a pinch), very little just to taste, a little clarified butter and/or spot of milk and feed this. Once the baby tolerates this well, for that you may have to feed this a week and see how it goes. Later on you may start giving her light soups and some lentils, pulses etc. added to this rice kanji.
Once the baby tolerates rice and lentils, etc. the next thing to start her would be veggies and then after that fruits. I am sure by the time, she comes you will have loads of recipes to choose from!
Wish you all the best! :)

Thank you kalyani. Will make sure to follow and do this recipe of yours, you're right I'm from Asia ( Philippines to be exact). So cooking recipes with rice will be no problem for me since we have a lot of it here in our country. Wish me luck to perfect this one. =) Thanks again buddy.

You are most welcome, dear friend! So you are from Philippines, that's great! Because so many of our eating habits are similar to each other, although in India we prepare our foods a little on the spicier side! I forgot to mention potatoes and the boiled yolk of eggs initially, but only after your baby tolerates rice cereal well!

Yeah, invest in a food grinder and buy all fresh fruits and veggies and make you own. I am sure with a little imagination you will come up with something delicious your baby can eat. Good Luck.

Giving your baby natural food is best for the baby and you. Everyone has ground provision or root vegetables where they live, e.g, Potatoes.
In Guyana we use the root of the dasheen plant called eddoes in other parts of the world it is called 'Taro'. It is very rich in iron and very tasty too. If you have access to a West Indian supermarket you can get that. If not you can use Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes.
Egyptian rice is also good. It is very rich in Proteins.
Hard-Boiled and smashed eggs are also tasty.
Hope these were useful.
P.s
Ensure your husband don't eat the babies food out. Lol

These are very good suggestions and I will take note of it. I will find out if Taro is available in our country but sweet potatoes and potatoes are available everywhere. Thank you so much and yes I will make sure my husband will not mistaken to eat these baby foods. LOL =)
