Reports said that this hacker group called Anonymous vows to kill Facebook on November 5. Any idea?

By announcing the date of their supposed attempt, they are issuing a challenge to Facebook (and any other site) to show that the Internet is not as 'secure' or as 'impregnable' as many people think it is.
Anyone who knows anything at all about the stability and security of the Internet should already be aware that real security issues were never even considered when it was invented - EVERY security provision is an add-on.
The group who call themselves 'Anonymous' are trying to prove what every sensible person should know already ... that there is NOTHING 'secure' about the Internet. If you want to launch a small boat on the ocean, then you are at risk: if you want to join all those small boats together to make a raft, you are at the mercy of the ropes which join all the boats.
I don't think that 'Anonymous' will destroy Facebook (or any other site). They may make it difficult for them for a day or so (and Facebook may even be down for a while). Such attacks are expensive and many smaller sites than Facebook might not be able to afford that kind of expense but I am sure that Facebook will survive to continue to rip off its users.

Hi Owlwings, thank you for this credulous response. Yes, I do agree that the announcement made by this group is to let the people know that the Internet is not secure and the user itself shall be cautious enough from using. On the other side of the coin, this announcement is a threat to Facebook that should not be taken for granted but be given extra preferential attention or safety net, to always make the site safe and secure to its users during its existence.
