Okay I took apart my laptop to clean my fans, but I didn't really know what I was doing so when I started back up my laptop I had to press the button to the right of the power button and the keyboard and mouse pad don't work! Iv'e opened back up to see if they got unplugged put it looks like they are in!
By the way I have a HP Pavilion dv6000

Have you tried reconnecting all the cables? Or even just the 'flex' cable to which the touchpad and the keyboard is connected. I am not familiar with the dv6000 layout but I know that they are on separate connectors. Check carefully maybe you have missed something in there.
Also check for cuts on the cable that connects your touchpad/keyboard to the mainboard of the laptop. A small cut can ruin the connection. You might need to replace it.
