I have only downloaded one set of audio books (on hypnosis!) and honestly, it was enjoyable to hear it read, but I still prefer to read myself. Ebooks are generally rubbish. They can be incredibly out of date. I found one, "How to fix a hard disk", that must be older than most of the members here! Anyone remember "parking your heads"? God, that was a long time ago! Downloadable books don't have to be ebooks. I have some full length novels that are simple text files. Difficult to navigate but very enjoyable. But my eyesight still favors the conventional paper based book. And you can read them in the toilet!

I prefer real books. But among audiobooks and ebooks I like audiobooks more. but there is no other alternative of real book. The feeling of browsing through the pages or the smell of a new book is unavailable in ebooks..

I have always enjoyed reading and looking at books. This year for my birthday I got given an e-book reader. I like it due to it being ideal for travel overseas. I get pleasure from real books but they are heavy to carry. I am learning more of what to do with my e book reader.

Yayy!!! Thats one big positive part of e-readers.... you can up-load like all "Millenium trilogy" plus T.Pratchett's "Unseen academicals" and Harry Potter books and still you can fit it in youre purse! Whats not to like :D

Personally, I prefer reading books. I have a difficult time reading ebooks, and I was just never really able to get into the whole audiobook thing. I really do enjoy reading books. I have an easier time reading books compared to the audiobooks and e-books and such. It's just the way it seems to be for me.

@anitoton: you are right. But reading books is a good habit. It helps in preeventing spelling mistakes. This can be helpful in learning proper english also.

I love fictions by Victoria Holt ( she also writes using name Philippa Carr , Jean Plaidy), I love P G Wodehouse(my name itself reveals my fondness for humor).I love classics too - Wuthering hieghts and Great Expectations are my favorite.I have read almost all the books by Agatha Christie.Among the contemprory writers I like Dan Brown.I love science fiction and science related books like the Grand design by Stephan Hawkins.Rather than psychology I love books which are related to law of attraction like 'the power', the secret by Rhond Byrne.Have you ever downloaded from isohunt.com?

Hello, Anitoton :D I do prefere real books, but since i bought myself a e-book reader, I do love e-books allso. Mine e-reader is E-ink, so its like paper, but black-and white, allso the pictures and it dosent hurt my eyes more than a reading paper book. I do not like aidio-books so mutch, since for me i have to listen them really still, because when im doing something it becomes back-ground noise and later i will not reamember anything. :D Take care!

yea..Also it is hard to remember how far I have already read. In books it is possible to insert a bookmark.

Well, in my e-reader (Prestigio ....) i can set bookmarks in two ways.... easier is that it reamembers where you left off( went bact to menu) and when there is two readers (me and my boyfriend) then you can set bookmarks and it reamembers it and you can finde it really easily... :D

I have read books and e-books. I have also heard audio books. But the real fun of books is to hold them in hand and read them. I do not like e-books as I have to read them on the computer and it usually is uncomfortable. As far as audio-books are concerned they really do not give as much fun in terms of details as books do. Cheers! Ram

I prefer the real books to the other options you mentioned. ebook is an interesting concept though. ebooks written on serious topics like SEO and affiliate marketing are getting sold very easily these days. ebook selling has become a kind of business too.

okay.i agree with you. but sitting in front of pc or laptop, and studiying for hours is very boring and straneous for the eyes to stare at the screen continuously.so i do not prefer much e book reading.

Hi Cudamani, You are right, mate. I would prefer to hold a book in my hand and read any given day. Reading books on the computer is not my piece of cake. I do it occasionally as you can't really ignore the ebooks, but still a real book is a different feel altogether.

i prefer e-books. i never stock books in my room. though i've tried buying books back then but after i read it, it just goes to the corner and has no use to me. it's like my money was wasted. i dont like selling it as well. i've tried borrowing books from our college library before cause i cant find an ebook. but most of the things i read comes from an online resource. i never tried audiobooks..

I like the ordinary books, when I can turn a page over eagerly wanting to know what's on the next page. Audiobooks are good for hearing a voice and the pronunciation of words. It good when to learn a foreign language. E-books are okay, but as you say it is tiring for the eyes if reading over a longer time.

I use to be so against ebooks until I recieved my very own Amazon Kindle. I think I read more faster in the Kindle then I do with regular books. Sometimes I will read a regular book, but most of the time I'm mostly on my Kindle. I wouldn't read audiobooks because I find that I fall asleep with it or I wonder off some place else.

I prefer the real books. It's safe from brightness stress from using electronic devices too much, and it trains the mind to read more in a relaxed manner, thus allowing us readers to think calmly (I still feel the stress in the eyes when reading e-books). Audiobooks, in my opinion, make me feel sleepy more than when I read the actual books. I'd rather watch a movie than listen to audiobooks. Moreover, reading books is so much fun!

Actually I had read e-books for almost 3 or 4 yrs. Now I'm prefer real books, I always read books on the sofa with a cup of coffee or tea on weekends. I don't like audio books because I just want to touch the books and read wherever I want. Just like today I bought an interesting book and I can't wait to reading it.

I prefer electronic books, I store e-books in my iphone. For me, electronic books are easier to read because it's on your phone. It's like you are reading a text message. I also read books but I tend to forget to continue read the books since I don't bring it anywhere I go. I have tried downloading audio vooks but I never had a chance to listen to it. Because whenever I put on my earphone, I prefer listening to my favorite songs lol.

I think curling up with the real thing will always be my favorite. I like to be able to touch the actual book and flip through the pages. Also unlike these computerized devices, actual hard copies never crash and have unlimited battery life. You can't beat that! If I am a huge fan of the book, then I might get the audio version. Gilda Radner's autobiography is an example of this. I love Gilda, and hearing anything in her voice just gives the text a whole other dimension. I think the same is probably true for other authors as well if they happen to be real characters in their own right. Another occasion in which I might look into the audio version (if there is one) is if it is a book pertaining to any of the research I do for my dance productions and other performances because I tend to absorb information more efficiently when I can hear it aloud than I do reading on my own. I also like that I can get other things done while I am listening if I am pressed for time. I honestly have never bought an e-book nor have a ever bought any device on which to read them (Kindle, IPad, etc.) I may try it one day (I am thinking when I start traveling more it would be good to have) but for now, I just don't see it taking the place of a real book on any occasion...

I mainly prefer normal books. I'm not very fond of audiobooks, they're too slow. I'm a pretty fast reader so with audiobooks, it feels like they're talking forever. Haven't really tried ebooks yet but I'm thinking about getting a kindle soon, 'cause I love science magazines and they are so much cheaper as PDF's. However, I can read PDFs on my computer too. It's a bit heavy but fine for sitting in the sofa :-)

i Personally like books better, but only if I own them for myself. For some reason, if I read any books, I have to own them. I just dont get the same pleasure if i'm borrowing them or checking them out from the library. Ohh! but i have a tip to people who love book: if you go to gohastings.com, they have some VERY cheap used books. i buy from there all the time and the used books look like brand new, they even have the covers for hard backs! i usually get my used books for 3 to $5. \

I still prefer books for a number of reason. 1. My eyesight is not a hundred percent perfect anymore so I often get migraines for staying in front of a computer for a very long time. 2. I don't have an ebook. But I think I will also get migraines from staring at the screen. 3. I love looking at piled books :) 4. I love the smell of paper I have tried audio books and they're fun as well but there's a tendency for me to be sleepy while listening. :)
