What do you do with extra spagetti sauce?

I make spaghetti yesterday but I have some left over sauce. Do you have any idea what to do with sauce. I am thinking of using it as pizza sauce but I don't want to buy the crust. Is the softbread fine to make pizza? It's gonna be my first time to make my own pizza. Just in case.

I am a filipino but I don't eat it with rice. My 10 year-old nephew did that. I was not expecting it actually. He always have rice for dinner. He was in a hurry that day and he didn't want to wait for dinner so when I gave him some spaghetti he put rice in it and said that was his dinner. I actually don't like that but with bread it's fine.

You could add hot spices to your sauce and then add it to rice to make a curry or chili.

Its a filipino style actually to put some sweet on spaghetti. Most children here prefer sweetened spaghetti. I only realized this when I bought a spaghetti sauce. It says that it's sweetened and written also in the pouch was 'filipino style spaghetti sauce'. When I read that, I realized and agree that filipino really like sweetened spaghetti.

yes I don't want to waste any left over. I want to give it actually to my cats but I put sugar in it so it's kinda sweet. I know sweets are bad for cats or even dog. That's why I just think of other ways to use it.

It seems kind of a waste of pizza sauce to give it to cats, or dogs. It's too good for them! You're only the second person I've heard of putting sugar in spaghetti sauce.

If you don't want to use it right away, you can freeze it for later. I sometimes use it when I make soup. I use it in meatloaf sometimes, too.
You can make "pizza" on any kind of bread that will hold the sauce, it's just a matter of what you want it to be like.

Hello angel. I have used spaghetti sauce on English muffins for pizzas. If your going to try it with regular bread I would toast the bread first or it will be soggy. I would add some extra seasonings like oregano basil and garlic.

Thanks deebomb for the advise. I agree I have to toast the bread first. That's what I will do. Do you use dry basil or the fresh one?
hi haopee, that's a nice idea. I think I will put some cheese too. I used corned beef instead of meat. I also put sliced hot dog in the sauce.

Exactly, toasting soft bread is the answer.
What my friend does when he has excess spaghetti sauce is he toasts the loaves of bread first (but not too toasted, just so that it's hard enough to withstand the sauce).
Then he puts the sauce on the toasted bread, after which he places grated cheese on top of the sauce(I'm assuming your sauce had tiny bits of meat as well right? So no need to put on toppings like pepperoni or bacon. The meat in the sauce should suffice).
Then he places it back in the oven toaster so the cheese will melt

I would say if you have some English muffins to make mini pizza's with them. Or if you have a nice thicker bread you could butter and put cheese on it and dip into the sauce. And when in doubt freeze it til the next time you make spaghetti.

That sounds good. I use ketchup for fish and chicken. Spaghetti sauce is like ketchup too so it's really a good idea. Thanks!

I am not sure what "soft bread" is, but I am sure your homemade pizza on it will be yummy. I know some people slice a large loaf of "French" bread and make pizza on it. I have made pizza on English muffins and I have made it on tortillas. I also take spaghetti sauce and spread it on chicken patties and put mozzarella cheese on it, and that is good, or put it in meat loaf.

Here in our country most local breads here are soft unlike in US. So I called them soft bread.. we have here gardenia, tasty bread here. I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with tasty bread. It a loaf bread but the slices are thinner and it's softer than gardenia.

I don't have any pasta here so I will just use it with other food. I also love pizza but haven't try home made.

I always make more sauce than I will use at one time. It´s my way of being lazy. I use part of the sauce and freeze the rest for another day. I usually don´t like to eat the same thing two days in a row.

The traditional thing is to make dough (I use a bread maker) and then spread the sauce and presumably cheese or other toppings of your choice and back it to make a pizza. You can also fold the pizza over (before cooking) with the sauce on the inside to make a calzone.
Another possibility is to put the sauce on baked potatoes but I'm sure you could use yams, sweet potatoes or Jerusalem artichokes. You could also put it in tacos, possibly adding hot spice if you're a traditionalist.

That's actually the best idea for the extra spaghetti sauce. I think I will love it too.
