If you were in outer space and able to survive through the lack of oxygen , could you fart and propel your self like a rocket does?

this is a very male conversation! however, i think i need to point out that the gas we emit from our bodies has a direct relationship to how much oxygen we take in, and therefore if we were able to survive without oxygen then our body would presumably not be working normally, and our ability to "fart" would also be affected. and then there is the problem of the need to consume food, to assist in its production. and finally, to completely spoil the fun here, i very much doubt that even if the body were able to continue farting that it would produce sufficient to propel the body anywhere. sorry for spoiling this important scientific enquiry............

Sure. Aside from the fact that the temperature is close to absolute zero and there is no air, it would work exactly the way a rocket does.
