I'd be lost without myLot. (cry)

I spend a lot of time here just reading articles and trying to think up replies and new discussions. I'm not very good at new discussions.
I've been trying to re-organise my time to use it more effectively and I thought that one day I will probably give myLot a miss. Then a part of me reacted in shock - "NOooooo - you can't do that!" and I realised I would be at a loss without myLot. I don't think I'll always be here but I can't imagine doing anything else instead either.
What would you be doing if you don't come to myLot?

We'd miss you terribly MsTickle if you were no longer here.
I was away for 2 1/2 weeks out of town and with no internet connection. It was when I was there that I though wow if only I could just read the discussions. I realized I truly missed a great of my you here and am so glad that I could return back.
Though as you know I am active there are many times I get involved in just reading and find it to be fun, learning and teary at times too.
I am grateful to be a member here as you can't imagine any other site in place of.

Aww, thanks HWG, you'd be missed too, that's for sure.
If I have to be away from my computer (I'm going away for about 5 days later this week) I'm at a loss for something to do.
There's certainly no place like myLot...there's a magic about it I reckon.

I share your sentiment myfb as you know I too was gone for 2 1/2 weeks and so missed everyone. I thought to myself daily, if only I could read the discussion I would have felt I was home.

probably crying more and even more depressed. right now my house is full of my grown kids but it seems none are concerned with anything i have to say. im getting quite depressed and need someone to talk to. so i come to mylot and sometimes it helps. otherwise i play pogo.

Bunnybon, they are kids, even if they are adult. It takes a long time for them to know what life is like for us. We can empathize with each other because we have had similar experiences. If it helps to be here, then by all means, tell us all about it. I know when my daughter was here to visit at Christmas, just briefly, in many ways it seemed she was more concerned with reconnecting with her brother. He has had a rough time, some of it is his own doing. They would just talk and talk, and I would feel so left out.

Gosh, just a short while ago I was thinking how my younger daughter never calls any more. She used to call and visit but since I stopped working, I don't hear from her. She doesn't respond to my messages when I call or emails or cards. It's a really empty feeling but I don't feel so bad now cause you and Gerty have let me know I'm not alone.
This is the sort of friendship and support that myLot is about. We learn from each other while helping each other.

If I am not on Mylot I am on some other sites or trying to write some articles for a little money. I do need to go to the gym more often,as it really helps my body. I missed Mylot when I worked so much I had a hard time getting here. I have some other things that I have given up because the investment of my time is not rewarded by the relationships or by money. I am always glad to see you here. Hope you are doing fine. It must be winter there, going into spring, right?

Hi Gerty, nice to see you as always.. Yes, we missed you back when you were having to work so much. I remember thinking even then that it would be awful if I had to stop being a member here and there are others here , like yourself, that I just rely on seeing here...so many of those friends have been long gone.
Yes, it's still winter here, very cold at the moment. We are getting some lovely days with bright warm sunshine but we desperately need rain. The animals in the fields have little or no water and the crops are running out of time to grow properly. It's either a flood or a drought, never just right.
I'm fine and I hope you and hubby are too.

Mylot is the one place I could never leave on my own free will. I was without a computer for 15 months and even then I made sure to go to the library once a week so I could sign in here. Then over a month ago I was struggling with some personal issues and I stopped going to FB for a while, but not mylot, I stayed here knowing I had support here. Not that I didn't have friends who supported me on FB, but here is a different kind of support and I don't have family here like on FB, because my family can be very unsupportive..
If I couldn't mylot, then I'd probably find some other outlet, but there will never be anything as precious as mylot...

Hi Carmel...yeah, I knew you were having some issues at home and I sure hope you've come through that without any harm.
I don't do FB very much, I just don't think it's for me. I've found a couple of dear old friends and all but one don't want to know me. That made me sad for a long time.
I'm like you and I won't be leaving here of my own accord. Just the thought of leaving is a bit weird.

As for my issues, it is ongoing, but I trust it will work out..:)

Hi MsTickle! I have been going through a few withdrawls from myLot lately myself. I have been missing my friends here terribly too. MyLot has really become a part of me and it has been tough not being here as much as I was before. The only thing that keeps me away are pressing matters. Stuff like long hours at work, school assignments, children starting back to school...stuff like that has really tied me up..lol.
I am hoping in the next few weeks things will settle down for me again and I can be back as much as I would like. I sure wouldn't be away unless I have to...I love the people and discussions here.
Take care.

It's always nice to see your smiling face Jen. I'll be away for a few days over at dad's but I will be back late Monday. I hope things settle down quickly for you. I think it's amazing how you and so many other Mum's get so much done in a day.

I enjoy signing in to mylot as much as I can. Not only do I earn some money but I also get to make friends and have interesting conversations with them. I have learnt a lot from friends here on mylot and I am still learning a lot. It is a very interesting website/forum and I doubt if there is another one like it out there on the internet.

Yes, it is unique and guess what? It is the wonderful members who make it what it is. That's ordinary people like you and I from all parts of the world who come together to discuss anything...it's a truly amazing place. I think it's very special to have that feeling of "belonging" to this site. I hope you continue to learn, be happy and make new friends.

I'm not good with the starting of discussions either. In fact I am terrible at it. For the most part, I search around and respond. I work 2nd shift and this is what I do when I come home and before going to bed. I do this if I have time in the morning before going to work. I get busy during the day anyway so I'd be ok with not having time to get on here. It's at night when I get out of work...Oh , I'd miss it so much. I know because I have. I've come home at night and something is wrong with my server. I'll get frustrated trying to get on-line and figure it out and then finally just give up and go to bed frustrated. What did i do before mylot? well, I had dial up so didn't even much bother with the computer. I would come home and pick up the house, plan the next day and probably get much more sleep.

Oh boy sid, do I know the frustrations of dial-up and going to bed unable to satisfy my need to do myLot. It hasn't happened since I got a satellite connection, touch wood.
I have to go to my Dad's in a few days and I won't have the internet there. I'm not sure what I will do with myself during my free time. I'm sure the time will pass all too quickly and then I will be home again and back on-line at myLot. See you round kiddo!

i understand your feeling at this moment, since i will be leaving Mylot very soon for 2 week, too. Next month end, i will be having a 2 weeks vacation to my aunt's village. But i will bring along my laptop and see how's the coverage in that area. If the coverage is fine, then i will still be online once in a while, just to connect with my Mylot friends. If not, then i have to bid "sayonara" for 2 weeks.

The time will go quickly for you I'm sure. I'm going to my Dad's for several days and at 98 he really has no interest in computers so he has no internet connection. If we keep busy while we are away, we will be back here in no time...and me, I will be complaining about all the catching up I have to do.

We would be lost without your wonderful comments too MsTickle!
I have cut back on my activity here due to real life being far more important to me than here, but it is a good place to chill out from life for a while. I would be probably doing something similar somewhere else online or reading a book if I were not on here when I am. I try not to let my activity here get in the way of my family life, but it is also good to have a bit of quiet time typing away while they are still in bed or are busy doing other things.
I would spend more time building Squidoo Lenses online if I were not here. That is what I would be doing!

Squidoo Lenses are web pages that you can build for free really easily using their modules. It is also a social network as people comment and rate each others pages. I find the site really just as addictive and rewarding as here, so if Mylot did not exist, then I would be there instead.
You can see a list of pages that I have made here: http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/RawBill

Well, I would miss you if you disappeared from myLot altogether.
I have had periods where I could not be on here due to computer problems, connections issues and other things, and I must say that I really did miss my friends on here a lot. I missed the daily interactions and wondered how they were doing and how things were going in their lives. I know that they felt the same, because when I returned I had messages from a few asking whether or not I was alright and what was happening ... they had sent the messages while I was away, because they missed me. It made me feel really good to know that they felt like that as well.

Aww, that's lovely my friend. I've had to be away off and on and that's never happened to me but I can understand what a lovely feeling it is when your friends let you know you are missed. I too have missed you from time to time.
MyLot is where I do all my best thinking, it's where I learn the most from. I day dream lots about the people I meet and the discussions we participate in and the site is a big part of my daily life

I also daydream about the people and discussions that I have here. I envision what other countries and places look like, what my friends look like, and what experiences they have on a daily basis. I have a much better picture of other countries and cultures from my interactions on here than I have had from school or any other "learning" place. There are universal similarities between people in all cultures, and there are beautiful differences as well, although as with everything in life not all is good and beautiful. Still, I believe that the good definitely outweighs the bad, and that is one of the reasons that I enjoy my time here so much.

Dear MsTickle, sure I would get back to my favorite pastime, reading. There are realy shelves full of unread books here and I have so many that my dear husband put another small shelf into the hallway where I put most of my unread treasures so I get sort of overview.
Taking more walks when it doesnt rain would be great too. We had quite a rainy summer so far and I am disappointed about that. July and August were true scorchers when I was a kid with far less rain than now.
But I would miss my mylot friends who are as dear to me as offline friends.

Hi RitterSport, I've just returned from visiting my dad with no internet connection. I had planned to do some reading but without having to get up to feed my pets, I actually allowed myself to sleep in, then I would sleep again in the afternoon when dad slept. I was also going to bed early.
It's still really cold here and I will be glad when the sun comes up ...the days are nice when the sun shines.

dear MsTickle sure your dad was glad to see you and it was good for you to spend time with him. These past days were nicely hot about 30 C and I absolutely loved it in spite of the fact that my "asylum is literally IN the roof of the house. LOL

Well, it has been almost 5 yrs. for me since I found this wonderful site. There have been times I have had to be away like Vacations, Hospital stays, Church happenings, working a lot, etc. but I always seem to find my way back even if I have to miss any time in here. I did try taking a lot of last yr. off from here, and hardly earned anything. But when I did come back, I came back in gusto and can never really imagine not being here as well.

I love to see your cute pink avatar here and knowing you're an Aussie too is like seeing an old friend. It's awful when we can't be here for any length of time but the good thing is we can come back whenever and know that there will always be friends here, whether they be old familiar friends or new ones waiting to meet us.

Hi MsTickle, the work I work from home as well as my part time job need a lot of knowledge and latest info. On account of this I have to spend considerable of time surfing net in front of my laptop. To make my schedule rather interesting I would like to read myLot posts and sometimes typing one or two posts to make my constant routine rather brisk and thrive More over it's quite handy to surf net via myLot search bar as I don't have to take the trouble to shift to other search engine like what I's used to do before
There were times I couldn't posting as usual at myLot for quite a long period. I was really depressed and seemed like losing of interest when sitting in front of my pc to do my online work. That time my good friend wrote to myLot admin and asked them to resolved my problem and they listened but still couldn't get the loading problem settled. Until the second last myLot renovation had completed I again can enjoy having fun here as usual without any loading problem. It has become one of my inevitable routine to read and write here daily lol...
Happy posting and have a nice day

I'm not like what you mention that diligent working here I would do my typing here only when having spare time. Today I need not to go for my part time work in the afternoon I'm doing some searching work as well as watching movie at the same time. I would like to have a pause for a short while to read and type posts

Oh dear, I can't imagine anything more frustrating than not being able to log on at myLot...I'm glad you were able to finally get back and resume your activities here.
Your work sounds time consuming and if I were you I would be looking for a distraction as well. I love it when I'm able to pick up the pace and do well here.
Don't work too hard now and have a lovely time. Hope to see you around.
