I’m just curious if myLot automatically deletes a discussion, comment, or photo if someone presses the ! button? Does admin check first if it should really be deleted or is it just automatic? I see that just like the – button, it could also be abused. This came to my mind because I have responded to a discussion pertaining to some discussion activities of other members here, and that particular discussion got deleted. I guess someone who actually does that kind of activity reported it. What can you say about this?

GoAskAlice has said very firmly that ALL deletions are done manually and with due consideration by a human. Many things which are reported are not deleted and many things which are not reported are deleted. The discussion you are referring to was deleted because Admin considered it to be a violation of the Guidelines.

Thanks owlwings for confirming it. I just have doubts at it because it's not quite a direct attack to other members here but in a good way for them to learn. That was the only reason I can find why it got deleted but there are discussions as well that is an attack to other myLotters but doesn't get deleted.

I just have a feeling that someone who does that kind of activity reported it. It actually talked about myLotters who creates too much discussion in a day and wasn’t able to respond back on them. Yep, this place should be clean especially from spammers.

I have reported "discussions" which, while not obviously breaking guidelines are obviously copied from elsewhere. Often, blatantly. They get removed - but only in MyLot admin are alerted to it. In my case, I give the link of the original site it was copied from. Rewrites I tend to ignore, even though it peeves me people are doing this.

I think the bottomline is that mylot removed the discussion because they think it may have violated some of their guidelines. From my understanding, the reason mylot probably decided to delete the discussion was because it seem to be criticising other mylotters which mylot doesn't seem to tolerate. The discussion generated a lot interest but I guess mylot doesn't think it meets its requirements.

The discussion had a lot of participation but mylot still went ahead and deleted it. Whether it was because somebody or a group of people reported it or because mylot deleted it at their own discretion is not known. However, I personally do not report discussions. If it is not a discussion I am interested in I move to the next discussion. There are thousands of discussions to participate in here on mylot. And besides I don't think anyone would start a discussion that attacks me personally.

I’ll assume that you have actually been in that kind of discussion as well. Yes that was a criticism but I see that it is in a constructive way also. I guess the discussion created different impacts to different kinds of people and maybe you’re right as well that it didn’t meet its requirements.

I understand how disappointing it is to have a discussion being deleted but there are those who are really mean with others here. I don’t know if it’s intentional or it’s just in their nature the way they speak their opinion. I haven’t reported anything yet other than my posts which have been mistakenly posted twice but I think that Admin cannot see everything in here. I would actually suggest that there should be better information available as to why so that we’ll understand it better as well instead of being disappointed.

My impression was that this was reporting it to mylot admin for further inspection. I don't think that it is up to the members which content is deleted i don't know if it's held idle until admin check it out but i think they would because it's not fair that someone's discussion would be deleted by another member not liking the content unless it really does breach the mylot rules then i think it is simply a matter of opinion and what the site is all about.

Oh yes, that wouldn’t actually be fair if a discussion was deleted just because someone doesn’t like it. I believe that myLot is fair to everybody and wouldn't allow any form cheating.

Hello sais, the admin has the power or the program to do it's task, and has probably shut down or closed down a lot topics per discussion. I always report any discussion with violation, but there are times that they don't deserve what's happen to their topics but am sure they will learned their lesson.s have a nic day

A discussion can be deleted even if it is 5 years old if it is a violation. In fact many older discussions are coming to light recently and many are being removed. It seems that there were many that escaped the chop at the beginning and are still hanging around cluttering the place up and admin deletes them when he sees them now, even years later.

Yes I hope too that they’ll able to learn their lesson. I just wonder if somehow a discussion as old as 3 years old or probably older can still be deleted? I believe that Admin cannot see everything and not everything are reported, so there might be discussions that have violated the guidelines but have been missed by Admin or have been missed to be reported. What do you think?

That’s great if that is so because I have seen a lot of them here. That would actually mean that we can’t simply escape because Admin is constantly checking our activities and even do backtracking to trace discussions/responses that have violated the guidelines.

Hi Mylot admin delete discussions manually after checking the reason of reported. No post gets deleted automatically. So no one can misused it.

Yeah that has been confirmed already and I’m quite relieved now that they’re not automatically deleted and it cannot be abused as well. I just have been concerned because it can also be abused.

I don't really know but I guess the admin does read the reason why ! was pressed in the first place. I have pressed ! once or twice at my own responses coz they were posted twice of things like that but I do leave a reason why. And yes i think there are people who abuse them buttons. I read it in some discussion and thought it was actually true.

I have pressed that button also in some of my discussions which are posted twice or thrice due to some connection problem. I believe that others doesn't understand fully how to use it in an effective manner. I believe still that myLot won’t allow any kind of abuse here.

I have occasionally used it simply to draw Admin's attention to a response or a comment which I thought that he ought to be aware of or might usefully contribute to. As far as I know, Admin is only (or mainly) one person and he isn't on 24 hours a day and nor could he read every last response and comment, even if he were!

Just another thought if a post can be deleted regardless of how old it was? I have seen discussions as long as 3 years old but found out that there was also already a similar discussion which is 5 years old. I just got into thinking why that post hasn't been deleted. I know that Admin cannot see or read everything here so could it still be possible to get deleted if ever Admin stumbled upon it in one of these days?

I think they are checking contents nowadays and that is a good thing. Before I have encountered some really feisty ones here who are not minding the words they used when they are upset about something.Today, I think mylot takes the initiative to delete posts that aims to offend somebody here.It is really a good relief to know that they are trying to censor some posts here. (^_^)

I’m just a bit concern as well if it was being checked first before being deleted because it could also be abused like the - button. I’m a bit relieved now that they’re not automatically deleted. This is a good place where we can actually express everything but we should also be careful with the words we say. I believe that myLot is fair to everyone.

Nope, it is not automatically deleted. Admin would check and review it first :) And usually it would take up to 24 hours until the deletion. Anyway, if a response or discussion is violating the guidelines, then Admin may delete it even without being reported first.

Yeah I know that discussions that obviously violate the guidelines are deleted even without anyone reporting it. I wasn't just sure and have doubts as well at first if reported discussions or comments are being investigated first before being deleted. I have this doubt at first because there were discussions I’ve responded to which got deleted but actually is a wonderful discussion. I’m just disappointed because the interaction is already going well with that discussion. Well thanks for the confirmation.
