I am not saying that there is anything wrong in chatting with friends or relatives or with anyone for that matter. But from personal experience, I have now lost all interest in chatting o a regular basis. It is nice to do so once in a while catching up with a few close friends and relatives. initially when we were new to the web culture chatting seemed a very attractive past time. But one does get over this and now since we have many more things to do one he net, it is only natural that we concentrate on those and give less importance to chatting.. Friends , How do you all ? what are your feelings regarding this issue? please do add your views ...

Hi Kiran! It is true; however, if children are away and we chat , we would not think of other things and give priority to this.Otherwise, what you say is true. Except for the few occasions when we catch up with friends after a long time, I don't do this often nowadays.

Hi kala, that is very true! The other day I saw that my son was on facebook and ended up chatting with him for nearly an hour and I really enjoyed it.But just imagine if it happens everyday we will bore each other lol...So , I feel that it is better to do it occasionally ...btw, kala it is a long time since we chatted right? both of us have been busy in our own way ,take care

I am agree with you that chatting is not bad thing but it is depends on availablity of time. Indeed chatting and using social networking site like face book is the job of fresher, when we gain some knowledge then we like to use our time for other online work, like article writing. Priorty will be change.

Hi anil, When I first began to use the internet I only knew how to use the email and also the msn chat...I came to know about many different sites and other similar topics of interest only through chatting to other people..As you say, we have to see that the limited time that we get to spend online should be utilised in the best possible way...all the best

Anil, you may be surprised to know that most internet users started off by using the email and chat sites.I guess all of us did the same .I started off by using the email and then article writing sites...

I too don't spend a lot of time chatting online, when only necessary and when I misses them. I spend a lot of time now on mylot and some other sites. For me, I enjoy more participating in discussions now. Actually it depends on my mood. :)

Hi vycess, thanks a lot for adding your views , I guess we change with time .Chatting is no doubt a social activity , but one can easily go off limits and also there are other dangers associated with it while one is chatting to a stranger and gives out a lot of intimate information...all the best

I wouldn't mind to have an online chatting in a long time. But I would prefer chatting with person that I know rather to have an anonymous chat. And in addition, online chatting is just like usual conversation in daily life. Thing that make it different is just we are doing it via internet. So, as long as the conversation would be useful for me, then I wouldn't mind to spend a lot of time to chat online :)

Hi Kiran8, I don't use internet too much so I only spend 1hour/day to chatting online with my friend who lives abroad. It will cost too much to chatting by phone so we use online chat to keep in touch with each other. I think by chatting we can discuss many things and get fast respond comparing to writing an email. Maybe because we are a close friend and we live so far away from each other so we never run out of subject to talk, it is always fun to chat with a close friend and I only chat with 1 friend.

Hi Kiran! Happy Independence Day! When am on line, I prefer answering mylot discussions. I find it more interesting than chatting. I chat once in a while with those friends, with whom I can not connect otherwise but chat, provided they are also on line at the same time.

Hi kiran! You're right, it's nice to chat once in a while but everyday chatting would really be tiring. One would really be bored with it if done everyday. This happens to me. But it seems I don't really get over with it. I just get tired of it at times so I would stopped chatting for a long time and then there will come a time that I would feel the urge to chat again. Like recently, I've been chatting again a lot but before that, I rarely do so. And even before that, I used to chat a lot. And even before and before that, I rarely do. It's like an up and down pattern for me.

No,i don't. I once spent time chatting online for some time, but you know, i found, it is meaningless. Well, of course, it is wonderful to know people from other places. But most conversations are just waste of time, the chances you get to make true friends from online is very narrow. Most people are just playing and having fun. I'd prefer to spend some time on some websites to share opinions and make some comments with others. I have made some friends on Mylot, though i have not chatted with them directly, but i can feel their warmness and kindness through the discussions and comments.

Hi april, thanks a lot for sharing your views Initially people do like to chat with friends or even strangers and make it a habit to do so often. But once the novelty wears off , one tends to evaluate it and also want to do something worthwhile online especially so if you have limited time to spend on the internet..all the best

The only person I chat with on my webcam is my granddaughter. She lives too far away for me to see her very often and since she is only a baby, in a few months she will be 2 years old, she needs to see me so she knows who I am. But mostly I need to see her as she is growing up. They grow up so fast and then those years are gone and you can't make them up. SO I am making sure we know each other. I am driving out to see her in two weeks, I am so excited. It's a 14 hour drive but well worth every minute of that 14 hours. I don't really chat with anyone else online. My sisters and I send each other emails and we phone each other now and then. Again they live far away. That is one of the things I love so much about the internet, it's so much easier to stay intouch with loved ones. I am old fashioned in the way....I still like to do things in person, I don't text people as I think it is better to talk in person because with texting you can't hear a tone of voice and things get taken out of perportion, same with chatting online unless using a webcam. Cheers, Chris

Hi chrislotz, thanks a lot for sharing all those details I absolutely agree with you.One has to make the most of it when children are young and growing and are still very much part of our day today lives.Once they grow up they have their own life and all those past memories become very precious ! It is great to know that you will be with your grand daughter soon, I too feel that it is best to be there in person and share as much time with her as possible ...Two years and after is a very interesting age when they are learning to talk and express themselves...all the best and have fun with the little one

Chatting - Chatting with friend
Chatting is one cheap and fast way of communicating with loved ones abroad or locally. I have nothing against chatting provided it is done properly. If a person does nothing but chat then that is not good anymore. I believe chatting should never be a reason for a person to go unproductive. We should give it some time if really needful but not all of our time as most people do. Technology should make us productive rather. Chatting is a product of technology and if not used properly we might just end up useless in this world.

Agreed, it is cheap and also with a webcam you can also see the person and now with skype you can even voice chat, so no doubt that it is so popular with the web users. It depends on the individual to use the chat facility or for that matter any other to get the maximum benefit out of it...Thanks a lot salonga for your response, have a great weekend

Yes I agree that it is a phase most of us go through ! Once we discover that we are able to earn and also do something really worthwhile on the internet, we don't spend time only on chatting,it just becomes a minor part of our internet activities ... thanks a lot for your response and all the best

Yes now-a-days this online chat is weakening the bondage of direct relation. We are just in the verge of forgetting the old and effective face to face communication.Few years back if we had to say anything to a girl or propose we used to follow her activities liking, and then propose her directly. But now-a-days we can get all that information in on the social sites like Facebook, orkut etc and peoples love to make friends in online site and chat with them instead of direct meeting. Now a days friends do not hang out together rather they hang out in chat. So this is weakening our social bondage. I want to add here one more thing that is SMS or text messaging.peoples love to sms rather direct calling I don;t know why. I also used to love to chat with people, but it was never prior to me. To me meeting directly was always. But i used to like the chat, because always meeting is not possible and also I can talk with other peoples of other countries in chat. But this is very boring chatting all the day sitting in front of computer and typing ferociously. I spent more time in watching youtube videos, commenting and posting here, Internet learning programs, and using some money making sites. I love this site mylot. This site is full of attraction. The topics are just great as yours. Thanks.

Hi anitoton, thanks a lot for sharing your views I don't agree that it weakens the bondage, but the change has been sudden ! Let us face it , that change is an essential part of life, the only thing is that over the past decade it has been far too fast and people are just about coming to terms with it... Once it settles in , one is able to distinguish what is good and needed and what is not...Also give more importance to what is important and discard what is shallow and unnecessary...that is my feeling

Helo Kiran. At the beginning when I got my first computer back in the 2007 I used to be more than five hours chatting but now I and specially after discovering mylot, I don't feel like chatting anymore. Sometimes I enter to my facebook to see how is my family, but I don't do it like before. Even the hotmail I just open my msn one day in the week and I think that my friends doesn't feel as atracted to chat anymore either because I don't see them online. So chatting became to be one of the things that I rarely do.

Hi Rosa , thanks a lot for sharing your views ,I guess most internet users have gone through the same routine as yourself. Initially when they begin to use the net they want to chat since it is a novel experience and once they have had their fill of it, they look around for other more interesting and lucrative avenues, most of us went the same way ...all the best and happy mylotting

When i was in college, i used to spend a lot of time chatting.I would be chatting with my friends in college or in would be chatting with people i meet in the chat rooms on the internet. Then when my friends started working they did not get enough time to chat, so my interest in chatting gradually faded away. When i started earning online i thought chatting or playing games online is a waste of time so i quit chatting. If i want to speak to my friends i will write to them through email.

When I started using the internet I loved chatting. At that time I was still living at home and my father, my brother and I shared a computer, so I wasn't able to spend much time online. When I had the computer I always chatted, and I found it exciting to talk to a lot of different people that way. Today I have my own computer and I would be able to chat for hours if I wanted to, but I have lost my interest in chatting and I hardly ever visit the chatsites that I once loved. Today I prefer to spend my time on other things, because there are so many other interesting things to do online.

Most of the time I check my selling sites then I go on to work my survey sites. Then when I am caught up with that I start writing my articles. Along the way I sometimes get writers block so I come here to mylot and just respond to the discussions that I find interesting. It becomes soothing to me and gives me a new perspective to go on with my stories. I hope that others can find the peace and contentment that I do here on mylot.

Hi kiran, I spend some time on chatting either on mobile phone or through net. But to speak the truth The maximum time I have chatted with any one is one hour. It was two years back. I met a Mexican girl and quite often she would invite me for a conversation. Since she was quite young to me and our discourse would stick primarily to. Some time when I am on line people invite me to chat but I decline. Its boring. Anout mobile phone chatting, when I am bake from market and fresh and a cup of tea is befoe me I pick up any of my friends and if he too was free we would talk ore than a half an hour.
